The animal rights group goes for cheap shots with a ridiculous idea.

With Channel 10 set to air the finale of MasterChef n Sunday night, PETA is trying to garner some publicity for itself.

The animal rights organisation has written to the show’s producers suggesting the iconic aprons be changed to “reflect the impact of the show’s relentless promotion of flesh-based meals on animals and the planet”.

And in case their message wasn’t clear enough they want the famous “M” to be replaced with a “D” for “DisasterChef”.

Included in the letter is an artist’s impression of the new apron design, featuring blood spatter, bloodied handprints, and scorch marks (see above).

The letter goes on to say:

“Power aprons, golden aprons, pressure test aprons.… We know your franchise is big on meaningful aprons,”

“So we’d like to propose the adoption of the ‘accurate apron’.”

“The blood spatter represents the thousands of cows, sheep, pigs, crustaceans, fish, and other animals who have been violently slaughtered to make the dishes featured on your show as well as those made by home chefs working from recipes housed on the 10Play website, which features over 15 years of MasterChef episodes. The handprints symbolise that every time contestants use eggs or dairy in recipes, there is blood on their hands.”

The final episode of this series will also be the last episode featuring judge Jock Zonfrillo, who died in the week the show was set to premiere this year.

I’m sure fans of the series will be more focused on that than this publicity stunt.

  1. Peta can demand all it likes.
I demand Peta to understand and accept the many differences they will encounter on their journey through life.
Including that most people enjoy eating more than vegetables.
