The ABC slide into primetime for a win, and Channel 10 has the most successful run after 7:30pm…but Nine clinch the night despite a much poorer showing for their docu-drama on The Spin King.

Channel 9

A Current Affair (676,000) maintained its winning position for Nine before setting up a much weaker part 2 of
Warnie (434,000) for a distant third in primetime. Police Rescue Australia (226,000) continued its average and second place run after, before the night split into 100% Footy (37,000 BNE/SYD) or Footy Classified (100,000 MEL/ADL/PER). Mr Mayor (45,000) only draws a small group of viewers. Women’s Ashes: Day 5 S1 (186,000) offers a solid lift to the network numbers on 9Gem.

Nine first in both primary (18.9%) and network (28.6%) rankings.

Channel 7

Home & Away (472,000) kicked off by far as Seven’s best for the night, though somewhat surprisingly Million Dollar Island Australia (257,000) sinks to its lowest audience yet. Following on US dramas 9-1-1 (181,000), 9-1-1: Lone Star (134,000), and The Blacklist (31,000) do little in first run linear broadcast.

Seven second in both primary (16.7%) and network (24.2%) rankings.

Channel 10

The Project (186,000 6:30pm; 321,000 7pm) drops in with its best numbers for the week on 10 ahead of a slightly stronger MasterChef Australia (485,000) than last night. Have You Been Paying Attention? (526,000) again comes in as the highest rating entertainment program for the night, lifting Just For Laughs Australia (208,000) a little, before new and repeat episodes of FBI: Most Wanted (73,000; 61,000) draw in only night-owl fans.

10 third in both primary (13.9%) and network (20.3%) rankings.

ABC

7:30 (565,000) and the mid-season finale of Australian Story (430,000) perform admirably for the ABC, conspiring to take primetime for Aunty (just)! Four Corners (485,000) and Media Watch (491,000) also maintain a large chunk of that audience and would have won the slot if not for HYBPA. Jonestown: Terror in the Jungle (180,000) started its fill-in run for Q+A, before China Tonight (70,000) and The Split (DNR) bleed out the schedule.

ABC fourth in both primary (14.2%) and network (18.5%) rankings.

SBS

Legends End: The Loch Ness Monster Story (134,000) opened SBS’s account, then bouncing to The Great House Revival (99,000) and ending the evening with 24 Hours in Emergency (61,000).

SBS fifth in both primary (4.1%) and network (8.4%) rankings.
