The series, which premiered alongside the launch of Disney+ in 2019, will conclude with its fourth season, set to debut exclusively on Disney+ on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

The series, created by Tim Federle, has been a staple of Disney+ and achieved immense success, leading to Federle signing a multi-year deal with Disney Branded Television. In a poignant social media post, Federle shared his sentiments about the series concluding, expressing gratitude for the extraordinary cast, crew, and fans who embraced the show’s unique meta-style.

The series, which draws inspiration from the hit Disney Channel movies “High School Musical” from 2006 and 2007 and the theatrical release in 2008, proved to be a potent launchpad for many talented artists. Olivia Rodrigo, for instance, has risen to become a Grammy Award-winning artist, while Julia Lester received a Tony Award nomination. Other notable stars include singer-songwriter Joshua Bassett, who recently wrapped up a sold-out world tour, and Dara Reneé, who will star in the upcoming Disney+ Original movie “Descendants: The Rise of Red.”

Season four promises to be a fitting farewell, with the Wildcats preparing to stage a production of “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” at their beloved East High. However, a characteristic twist is in store when Disney announces the production of the long-awaited “High School Musical 4: The Reunion” movie, to be shot at East High itself.

In a further nod to the series’ roots, original cast members from the “High School Musical” films – Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Bart Johnson, Alyson Reed, and Kaycee Stroh – will reprise their roles.

The current Wildcats will also have the opportunity to appear as featured extras in the movie.

The final season will see Joshua Bassett, Sofia Wylie, Dara Reneé, Julia Lester, Frankie Rodriguez, Kate Reinders, and Liamani Segura return as main characters. The season will also feature recurring guest stars Kylie Cantrall, Matthew Sato, Caitlin Reilly, Vasthy Mompoint, Mark St. Cyr, Matt Cornett, Larry Saperstein, Joe Serafini, Adrian Lyles, and Saylor Bell Curda.

Fans keen on reliving the series can currently stream the first three seasons of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” on Disney+. The final curtain call awaits this August, only on Disney+.
