Sunday Ratings | DWTS pips THE ASHES; Seven wins primary as Nine takes Network win

Daryl and Sonia are back to deliver a big new season of Seven’s dancing reality show once a week(!).


Channel 7

Dancing With The Stars (647,000) premieres for season 20(!) on Seven and takes a solid primetime win for the ‘roast chook’ network. 7News Spotlight (271,000) struggles by comparison and slips week-on-week. Born To Kill (84,000) and Autopsy USA (42,000) struggle to maintain the audience delivered from earlier in the night.

Seven first in primary (19.9%) and second in network (26.4%) rankings.

Channel 9

60 Minutes (582,000) swings for the fences and comes in second for Nine, as the pushed-back Parental Guidance (375,000) also slips week-on-week, yet leading in its later timeslot. A repeat of Australian Crime Stories (136,000) and a new ep of The First 48 (85,000) flesh out the schedule.

Nine second in primary (18.3%) and first in network (38.7%) rankings.


Channel 10

The Sunday Project (212,000 6:30pm; 258,000 7pm) enjoying the sun with its elevated position, and MasterChef Australia (431,000) continues in its consistency also for 10. A new ep of FBI (188,000) along with a repeat of NCIS: Hawaii (92,000) draw a smaller audience into the later night.

10 third in both primary (10.6%) and network (15.6%) rankings.


ABC

Grand Designs Revisited (401,000) and Silent Witness (291,000) offer a solid start for the ABC, though The Messenger (83,000) continues to struggle in finding its audience. Repeats of In Limbo (42,000) and Interview with the Vampire (DNR) close out the night.

ABC fourth in both primary (9.7%) and network (12.8%) rankings.

SBS

A quiet night on SBS, starting with The Mystery of the Nazca Lines (99,000), and leading into a repeat of Saving Venice (80,000) and a new ep of Patagonia (39,000).

SBS fifth in both primary (3.6%) and network (6.5%) rankings.


KEY DEMOS

16-39: The Ashes: First Test Day 3 S1 (131,000) led Seven News Sunday, Nine News Sunday, The Ashes: First Test Day 3 Lunch, and MasterChef Australia.

18-49: The Ashes: First Test Day 3 S1 (223,000) beat Seven News Sunday, Nine News Sunday, The Ashes: First Test Day 3 Lunch, and MasterChef Australia.

25-54: The Ashes: First Test Day 3 S1 (271,000) delivers another triple-demo win for Nine, followed by Nine News Sunday, Seven News Sunday, 60 Minutes, and MasterChef Australia.


MULTI-CHANNELS

The Ashes: First Test Day 3 S1 (634,000) does massive business on 9Gem to win the multi-channel race.

One change to the previous week’s primetime line-up after the Total TV figures were added:

60 Minutes (Nine) lifted 14% to 828,000; ICC World Test Championships Day 5 S1 (Seven) lifted 6% to 811,000; and MasterChef Australia (10) lifted 31% to 711,000.

The BVOD best was MasterChef Australia (100,000).
