Kevin Costner now appears to be all but certain to exit the cast of hit series Yellowstone after season 5.
His exit comes after reports of alleged drama between the star and co-creator Taylor Sheridan over filming commitments to the remaining episodes of the current season.
There is still no update on when the cast and crew will return to Montana to finish shooting the remaining episodes, leading to confusion and frustration for producers and viewers. Yellowstone is available in Australia on the Stan streaming platform
Costner’s reps and the show’s rep have been reached out to for comment regarding the star’s exit. The news comes after Costner, Sheridan, and the rest of the cast were no-shows at a previously announced panel at PaleyFest in Los Angeles.
In February, reports emerged about on-set challenges and disagreements that have reportedly plagued the show during its fifth season. Amid all of this, Costner’s attorney fired back about the allegations of drama in a statement, saying that Kevin is passionate about the show and has always gone above and beyond to ensure its success.
Despite Costner’s exit, the show’s universe is set to expand with the official announcement of a spinoff series starring Matthew McConaughey.
According to Paramount boss Chris McCarthy, McConaughey is lined up to star in a Yellowstone extension. McCarthy also shared that Sheridan’s universe is set to grow even bigger, with more than 10 projects in the works for the streaming platform Paramount+.
