IN TONIGHT’S EPISODE: CODIE LEA PASSED THE LIE DETECTOR SHUTTING DOWN LAURELLE’S CHEATING CLAIMS. DANNII WALKED OUT ON HER MUM AND SISTER, WHILE LODY REVEALED A TRAGIC FAMILY SECRET.
60 second one-on-one confrontations with the parents continued
Leanne’s first task for the couples continued with JoJo, Dannii and Nathan having to listen to their parents without interrupting for 60 seconds. JoJo jumped right in asking her parents what they are afraid of.
Sid: “Not afraid JoJo, just sad.”
Lody: “As much as I love Jesse and you, I can’t see my daughter marry another girl. What’s wrong with being friends? To us, we’re hurting Jesus. Jesus said ‘love one another’ but not in that way. I just want to see my daughter have a man.”
Next up, Dannii listened to what mum Donna and sister Dee had to say.
Donna: “Dan, I would love to see you get married, but not right now. Denton needs to respect me a bit better. I don’t know what I’ve ever done to him. I feel that Denton isn’t the right person for you.”
Dee: “Marriage is a big thing, but I just find that you and Denton just argue a lot.”
Fed up and angry with their name calling of her fiancé and apparent reluctance to work out their problems, Dannii abruptly walked out on the meeting with her mother and her sister.
Finally, an anxious Nathan met with Laurelle hoping to make some headway, unlike the last time they met when he revealed he was marrying Codie Lea. Laurelle arrived with questions ready for Nathan to answer.
Laurelle: “Why don’t you have respect for me and call me mum? What have I ever done so wrong to you to make you hate me so much? Why do you always defend Codie and never stick up for me? In your eyes, Codie is always right and she can do no wrong. Why do you allow Codie to disrespect me and talk down to me? All I have done is be a single mum, a loving mother to you. Nathan successfully completes his first task with his mother Laurelle, and the results of their talk are looking good. Nathan said: “Today has actually gone a lot better than I thought it would. Appreciate that, thank you,” giving his mother a hug, which had her in tears.
Parents shared their objections to the weddings at their first group therapy with family therapist Leanne Hall
Laurelle shocks the group with her claims that Codie Lea has cheated on her son.
Laurelle: “I do know a lot more things about her…I would give anything for Nathan to see the real light of her, anything at all. I don’t trust Codie. I know that she has cheated on my son. I heard that from the horse’s mouth. The person who told me was the person she slept with.”
Sadly, Lody reveals a tragic family secret, the death of JoJo’s twin sister.
Lody: “We don’t hate her or Jesse, she’s my daughter and I love her but she’s my baby. You see, I lost Joanne’s sister when she was six. She died on the 26th of December 1986. She drowned and Joanne went through a very hard time, so did we.”
Leanne: “Was that a twin sister?”
Lody: “Identical, love. We could never tell them apart. I used to always ask my husband which is which and he is say to me just call their name and they come to you. Joanne, she found Jesse on the 26th and she said maybe God send her sister back, maybe she’s holding on to Jesse because she found her on that date.”
Laurelle asked Codie Lea to take a lie detector test
Parents initiated tests to satisfy their concerns about the person their child intends to marry. Laurelle asked Codie Lea to undergo a lie detector test to prover her claims she cheated on her son, Nathan.
Laurelle: “The only way for me to start mending the relationship with Codie and Nathan is for Codie to have a lie detector test to prove to me that she is not cheating on my son. I don’t want my son in a cheating relationship. Codie has to agree to the lie detector test and if she flatly refuse then I know she’s a (beep) liar.
Laurelle: “Codie Lea, I’ve asked you here today to take a lie detector test.”
Codie Lea: “Is she serious?”
Laurelle: “Will you do it?”
Codie Lea: “Yeah I’ll happily be interrogated.”
Laurelle: “I just want to be able to wipe the smug look off her face.”
To Laurelle’s shock, Codie Lea trumped the lie detector registering ‘no deception’ to all three questions, including had she ‘had any sexual contact with anyone other than Nathan since 2016?’
On a high, Codie Lea challenges Laurelle to her own lie detector test.
