With 4 million subscribers, Sky News Australia is one of the world’s largest news channels on YouTube.

Sky News Australia continues to assert its dominance in the digital space, having surpassed the milestone of four million subscribers on YouTube. This achievement reinforces its status as Australia’s most viewed television news channel on the platform.

Since its debut on YouTube five years ago, Sky News Australia has not only become a leader domestically but also one of the largest news channels globally on the platform.

The network’s strategic investments in its digital-first newsrooms and local production have been key to this success, resulting in a substantial rise in audience engagement. The first quarter of 2024 alone saw their Digital Originals format, which includes unique productions for YouTube, amass over 170 million views.

One such Digital Original is Power Hour, a weekly podcast and YouTube series hosted by Sky News Digital Presenter Gabriella Power.

Furthermore, Sky News Australia also operates one of the nation’s leading news websites, SkyNews.com.au, attracting over 3.1 million Australians monthly, marking an 8% increase year-on-year. The website and app provide full streaming access to popular programs such as The Kenny Report, Credlin, The Bolt Report, Sharri, Paul Murray Live, The Late Debate, and The Rita Panahi Show. This is in addition to the launch of the new SkyNews.com.au Streaming Subscription service.

The subscription service also offers live and on-demand streaming of major national affairs programs including First Edition, AM Agenda, NewsDay, Afternoon Agenda, and Sunday Agenda. It also features dedicated segments on finance and business like Business Now and Business Weekend.

Tim Love, the Head of Digital at Sky News Australia, remarked on the network’s exceptional growth and digital transformation.

“Our breaking news, political and cultural commentary, plus investigations and documentaries, have catapulted Sky News Australia ahead of its peers and we now have a higher reach on YouTube than all of Australia’s commercial and public TV news channel pages combined.

The growth and digital transformation experienced on YouTube since launching on the platform just five years ago is extraordinary.”

Sky News content continues to be available through broadcast and streaming platforms like Foxtel and Flash (available on Hubbl), covering the full suite of Sky News channels, including Sky News Weather, Sky News Extra, and Sky News UK. Additionally, Sky News can be accessed on regional free-to-air channel Sky News Regional and through Sky News Now on Samsung TV Plus.

  1. They’re not all watching, outside of Capitol cities it’s free (they can’t give it away!). Absolute crap. For those that critise the ABC it should compulsory!

Mis and Disinformation at your finger tips.
