The Summer of Cricket officially gets underway on Seven this week, with Australia’s women hosting Bangladesh across three day-night fixtures at Allan Border Field.

Australia comes into the series in strong ODI form, having won all six of its ODIs in 2026 with 3-0 series sweeps against India and the West Indies.

The Aussies have also lost just one of their last 14 ODIs, with that defeat coming against India in last year’s World Cup semi-final.

The series marks a new era for Australia following the retirement of former captain Alyssa Healy, while captain Sophie Molineux will miss the ODIs through injury, with Tahlia McGrath stepping in to lead the side.

Ellyse Perry, Annabel Sutherland, Alana King and Beth Mooney headline the squad as Australia looks to continue its strong record in the 50-over format.

Bangladesh will provide the opposition across three matches at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field, with all three games being played as day-night fixtures.

The ODIs are just the beginning of a busy month for Australia, with the team heading to North Sydney Oval for a three-match T20 series against New Zealand from Sunday, October 18.

It will be the Aussies’ first T20 series since their World Cup triumph, with Molineux set to lead the side if she returns from injury.

Seven’s coverage will be led by Emma Freedman and Jason Richardson, with Trent Copeland, Jack Heverin, Katey Martin, Kate McCarthy, Elyse Villani, Lisa Sthalekar and Kirby Short joining the commentary team.

Seven Network Head of Cricket Anna Stone says the Bangladesh series will mark the beginning of an important run of women’s cricket for the network, with the T20 series against New Zealand and WBBL to follow later this month.

“It’s the start of a new era for our women’s team and Bangladesh will be hungry to test themselves against the best.”

7Cricket host Emma Freedman says Australia cannot afford to take Bangladesh lightly, with the visitors arriving after the Bangladesh men impressed during their recent Test series in the Top End.

“They’ll arrive with nothing to lose, and they could be dangerous.”

The women’s ODI series kicks off a packed Summer of Cricket on Seven and 7plus, with the WBBL, BBL and Test cricket all still to come before the 150th anniversary Test between Australia and England next March.

The first ODI is live and free on Seven and 7plus from 2.30pm AEDT on Friday, October 9, with the second and third matches following on Sunday, October 11 and Wednesday, October 14.
