A squad of underdogs, a fired coach and plenty of cheerleading chaos are heading to Seven and 7plus, with U.S comedy series Stumble making its Australian debut tonight.

Fronted by Jenn Lyon and Taran Killam, with Kristin Chenoweth appearing in a recurring role, the NBC series lasted a single 13 episode season before being cancelled in May.

Jenn Lyon stars as Courteney Potter, a talented but disgraced cheerleading coach whose career is thrown off course after a public scandal costs her a prestigious job.

Looking for a fresh start, she lands at a small junior college where she’s tasked with turning around a struggling cheer squad made up of athletes with plenty of enthusiasm but little success.

Joining Lyon is Taran Killam as Greg, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Ryan Pinkston, Jarrett Austin Brown, Anissa Borrego, Arianna Davis and Taylor Dunbar.

Kristin Chenoweth appears in a recurring role as rival coach Tammy Istiny, while acclaimed cheerleading figure Monica Aldama also features as herself.

Produced by Universal Television, Stumble adopts a mockumentary style format, blending workplace comedy with the high pressure world of competitive cheerleading.

Created by Jeff Astrof and Liz Astrof, the comedy is executive produced alongside Jeff Blitz, Dana Honor and Monica Aldama.

Despite lasting just one season on NBC, Stumble attracted generally favourable reviews from critics, with praise directed towards its cast and lighthearted approach to the world of competitive cheer.

Stumble premieres tonight, Wednesday 24 June, streaming from 6.00pm on 7plus before airing at 11.30pm on Seven.
