Speculation is growing that Big Brother Australia could relocate from Dreamworld to a new Queensland production site.
Big Brother Australia is officially back in casting mode, with applications now open for the next season of the revived reality franchise on 10.
The announcement was made during Tuesday night’s episode of The Cheap Seats by host Mel Tracina, as producers begin searching for a fresh batch of housemates ahead of the show’s return, which was confirmed by the network late last month.
Notably, 10’s renewal announcement stopped short of confirming whether the series would return to Dreamworld following last year’s Gold Coast based reboot, with sources indicating to TV Blackbox that alternative Queensland locations, including a possible shift to Brisbane, had already been under consideration behind the scenes.
While nostalgic for longtime viewers, the Dreamworld setup also created logistical headaches during production, including weather exposure around the outdoor staging area and the challenge of filming inside an active theme park alongside rides and guests.
TV Blackbox understands 10 had hoped to remain at the site, however those plans were ultimately unable to be finalised.

Retaining Queensland production incentives is also understood to remain a priority for the broadcaster as it weighed up options for the expensive reality format, particularly following last year’s return to live shows, nominations and evictions across a six night a week schedule.
Fresh signs of a potential move north emerged last week when EndemolShine Australia advertised for Queensland based freelance crew to work onsite in Brisbane, with production dates stretching from late October through to early December, closely mirroring last year’s filming timeline.
The Brisbane based crew call has only added to speculation the series could relocate from the Gold Coast next season, with possible options including the Brisbane Showgrounds precinct, Northshore Hamilton and Screen Queensland’s Hemmant studio facilities.
There is also ongoing speculation 10 could expand Big Brother beyond last year’s shorter run, potentially positioning the format within its summer lineup following the decision to rest I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2027.
Applications for the 2026 season of Big Brother Australia are now open via the official casting website: HERE.

Your fabulous Mel as a host for BB. I really enjoyed it you hosting last year 2025
I think it’s time it comes to an end. I’m a huge BB fan, even auditioned many times myself, but I don’t think this show will ever be what it used to.
I had my doubts when it was in Sydney. Held onto hope for Dreamworld. But it’s done. It’s not relevant anymore and frankly, I’m sick of seeing influencers. It’s always the typical bunch. The influencer model, the older housemate, the one who is quirky, the battler, the underdog, the mum type (that is usually not even a mum), the gym junkie, the one who claims to be “confrontational” but really they’re just insecure and cringe. Boring. Just end it already
