BINGE has unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming Cold War thriller PONIES, a new drama set against the shadowy backdrop of 1977 Moscow, where two seemingly unremarkable embassy secretaries are hurled into the dangerous world of espionage after their husbands die under mysterious circumstances in the USSR.
Working quietly at the American Embassy, Bea (played by Emilia Clarke) and Twila (Haley Lu Richardson) are dismissed within intelligence circles as “persons of no interest” — the very origin of the term “PONIES”. Their anonymity abruptly ends when both women are approached by the CIA, pushing them from clerical work into covert operations as they begin piecing together a conspiracy that may explain why they became widows in the first place.
According to the series description, Bea is an over-educated, Russian-speaking daughter of Soviet immigrants, while Twila is a small-town American whose fearless — and often abrasive — instincts make her an unlikely but determined operative. As the pair step deeper into Cold War intrigue, they navigate a city defined by paranoia, surveillance and diplomatic tension, all while grappling with the grief and betrayal that pulled them into the field.

Ponies promises to be an espionage thriller laced with dark humour and character-driven tension, highlighting the advantages and dangers of being consistently underestimated. The thematic focus spans invisibility, gender and the murky moral terrain of intelligence work, set within a sharply realised 1970s aesthetic.
The series features a supporting cast led by Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, Nicholas Podany, Petro Ninovskyi and Vic Michaelis, populating the embassy corridors, the CIA’s Moscow network and the Soviet systems the women must infiltrate. Additional cast referenced in production materials includes Maxim Gall.
Behind the camera, PONIES arrives from Co-Creator / Co-Writer / Executive Producer / Showrunner David Iserson and Co-Creator / Director / Co-Writer / Executive Producer Susanna Fogel, with Executive Producer / Showrunner Mike Daniels and Executive Producer Jessica Rhoades also shaping the series.
Emilia Clarke appears not only as a series regular but also as an executive producer. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and is described in source material as a Peacock original series.
The season consists of eight 60-minute episodes, with BINGE confirming a full-season drop for streaming audiences, while Foxtel subscribers will have weekly airings on Showcase.
