The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer sees Sam Neill return to the screen as a defence barrister drawn into a case that reopens a decades-old mystery.

The latest season of the crime anthology series, The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer, is set to make its debut on BINGE and Foxtel from 4 August, with new episodes scheduled for weekly release.

The new chapter sees internationally renowned actor Sam Neill return to his role as Brett Colby SC, who becomes personally involved in a high-profile murder trial when asked to defend the husband of a lifelong friend accused of a serious crime.

The story deepens as the case brings to light a 1968 cold case involving the murder of two teenagers, while the jurors drawn into the proceedings find their own lives irrevocably altered by the trial. According to the producers, this season marks a departure from previous instalments, placing greater focus on the personal stakes for the central character.

Production of the eight-part series was overseen by WBITVP Australia and Easy Tiger Productions for the Foxtel Group, with major backing from Screenwest and the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive. Distribution is managed globally by Fifth Season.

The producing team includes Ally Henville, Hamish Lewis, Ian Collie, and Rob Gibson, with executive producers Michael Brooks, Sarah L. Walker, Sam Neill, Alison Hurbert-Burns, and Penny Win. The series was directed by Madeleine Gottlieb and Emma Jackson, with scripts from Sarah L. Walker, Matt Cameron, Mia Lethbridge, Adele Vuko, and Sam Meikle.

According to BINGE and Screenwest, the production created more than 650 local jobs and injected over $10 million into the Western Australian economy, exceeding the economic impact of the previous season.

The series will also be available on Showcase and Foxtel On Demand.

The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer premieres Monday 4 August at 8.30pm on BINGE and Foxtel’s Showcase channel.
