The new thriller Sweetpea, starring Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets, Fallout), will make its debut on BINGE and Foxtel on 10 October, with all six episodes being released simultaneously. The series promises a darkly comic and twisted narrative, with Purnell portraying Rhiannon Lewis, a character whose life takes a dramatic and violent turn.

Rhiannon is an unassuming figure. People overlook her in the street, she’s constantly passed over for promotions, and the man she’s interested in refuses to commit. On top of this, her father’s health is rapidly declining. But when her world is suddenly upended, Rhiannon reaches breaking point. The once meek and unnoticed woman is transformed into someone capable of anything. As she embraces her newfound power, she’s forced to grapple with whether she can keep her dangerous secret under wraps.

Adapted from C.J. Skuse’s cult novel, Sweetpea is produced by See-Saw Films and fanboy, in collaboration with Sky Studios. Kirstie Swain (Pure) leads the adaptation as executive producer and writer, joined by a writing team including Krissie Ducker (Killing Eve), Laura Jayne Tunbridge, and Selina Lim (Sex Education, Hanna). The show is directed by Ella Jones (The Baby, Back to Life), who also serves as an executive producer.

Other key production roles include Patrick Walters (Heartstopper) as executive producer for fanboy, and Helen Gregory, Iain Canning, and Emile Sherman as executive producers for See-Saw Films. Manpreet Dosanjh is executive producer for Sky Studios, while Ella Purnell takes on dual responsibilities as both lead actor and executive producer. Zorana Piggott (Heartstopper) is the series producer, with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution managing international sales for Sky Studios.

Sweetpea will premiere on BINGE on 10 October, followed by its release on Foxtel’s Showcase channel on 11 October at 8:30 pm, with episodes also available via Foxtel On Demand.
