Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes uses her own voice to tell her story.
The trailer for the upcoming documentary, Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes, has been unveiled ahead of its premiere on Binge on 4 August.
Directed by Nanette Burstein (Hillary, The Kid Stays in the Picture), the film also had its world premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes offers a fresh narrative on the life of Elizabeth Taylor, featuring her own voice to recount her story. This documentary invites viewers to rediscover a legendary figure of Hollywood’s Golden Age, while also exploring the intricacies of her personal identity and her navigation of global fame from childhood.
Utilising recently recovered interviews and unprecedented access to Taylor’s personal archives, the film unveils the complex inner world and vulnerabilities of the Hollywood icon. It aims to challenge audiences to rethink her achievements and legacy.
The documentary includes contributions from notable figures such as actors Roddy McDowall, Debbie Reynolds, Richard Burton, and George Hamilton. Others featured are producer Sam Marx, agents Marion Rosenberg and John Heyman, longtime assistant and co-trustee Tim Mendelson, and friends Liz Smith and Doris Brynner.
Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes is a collaborative effort from Zipper Bros Films, Gerber Pictures, Sutter Road Picture Company, and Bad Robot Productions, in association with House of Taylor.
