Biddy’s name and story have long been hidden within a maze of legal documents and protective legislation aimed at safeguarding the identity of her teenage killer. Since that tragic day, her parents, Rebekah and Dominic Porter, have been overwhelmed by grief, feeling silenced by a court order that prohibited the publication of their daughter’s name.
The circumstances of Biddy’s death were so traumatic that the first police officer on the scene has not returned to work. Many details remain undisclosed, but the harrowing timeline of events and the killer’s admissions following Biddy’s death are now brought to light in a crucial 7NEWS Spotlight report airing this Sunday at 8.45pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.
Michael Usher delves into the complexities of Australia’s legal system, which saw Biddy’s killer handled by the Mental Health Review Tribunal. Initially, the Director of Public Prosecutions had assured the Porters that justice would be served, but they were recently stunned to learn that their daughter’s killer has been granted day release.

“We’ve fought for some time now to bring you this story. The case has been heavily protected by the courts, but now legally Biddy’s parents can speak about their daughter’s death and honour her memory.
It’s been a long and painful fight for them. Their story is incredibly powerful, and so are the people who’ve been helping them find justice in the absolute worst of circumstances.”

We need to understand that gender and age are not a barrier to these types of crimes, we need to watch for any signs in our family members and get them help. We also need affordable psychological assistance for all people in all states, since COVID mental health care has become difficult to find with approximately 9 month waiting lists and increased pricing

I think the majority of society have had an absolute gut full of under age crime in general and even more so the non disclosure of names and kid glove sentencing.. if this girl was 14 at the time, the minute you are a teenager or older and commit any crime let alone something as callous as this then all media should be able to name this person. Perpetrators and their families get more support than victims and theirs and it’s disgusting. The minute a child becomes a teenager and commits crime let alone one of this horrendous nature the courts and media should bd able to name them.. Rebekah and Dominic have gone through hell and no doubt publicly in their local/wider community while what the parents of this other girl have been able to hide behind her anonymity? It’s not right. Not one person polled in our great country would have any problem if this girl did 20 years minimum, I don’t care about the bleeding liberal heart youth justice advocates anymore because too many juveniles are just getting away with far too much.. if you can commit a crime of this magnitude at 14yo I don’t care about the mental health playbook, you are a danger to greater society

I really struggle to see how Mental Health is quite often used to excuse such heinous crimes. It fathoms believe that this murderer could be released back into society without the public know their identity?? Why are we protecting the killer?? I don’t care that it was a 14 y.old … u committ an adult crime you should do adult time … the two 10yr olds that brutally killed 2 y.old James Bulger in Britain are the example of how to deal with such crimes 🙄 😳

The parents of Biddy Porter deserve support & justice from the authorities such a horrific crime. That 14 year old was evil mental illness is not an excuse to take a life , l felt so deeply for Biddy’s parents they have to go through life with so much heartache and grief. The case should be reopened, The 14 year old could be put on the streets shortly & do the same, her parents should have had her treated they must have guessed their child had a mental condition. Very very sad 😢
Please write down every detail about her and what happened to her on Wikipedia. You can google and read what happened in other murders but not hers. Her story needs to be there. My heart felt condolences, love and prayers go out to the parents, family and friends of this beautiful little girl.
The killer clearly has an extreme type of mental illness which is evident in the lack of empathy and remorse for her victims.
Unlike many forms of mental illnesses, that type of mental problem may never be overcome,, and for the sake of everyone in society such a person must never be released.
This person is a danger to everyone, including herself.
I find it very hard to believe that the parents of such a child could be so seemingly complacent when clear warning signs were there well before this tragic killing occurred.
I don’t believe that “the system”, namely the Mental Health Council in charge of this case has done the right thing by anyone involved, and I believe that this killer should be permanently hospitalized and kept under strict supervision indefinitely, not only for the sake of everyone in society, but for her own safety as well. I don’t believe that such a person is capable of being responsible for their own actions, no matter how well medicated or counselled.
I am just so sick with grieve for Bek and Dom, losing their beloved daughter to such evil. But even worse, the so-called Legal System are just as evil, they knew exactly what they were doing to this family, yes SCREWING them over.
Everybody needs to get behind Bek and Dom, like how Australia did for Daniel Morcombe, another tragic loss for another family.

My heart goes out to them. They must be living a life of torture every day. My Daughter was sexually assaulted when on school holidays at a ‘safe place when she was 7. The guilt of sending her there to supposedly have a good time while my Husband and I were working has been devastating for her and us throughout the years. I cannot begin to imagine what these parents deal with on a daily basis through no fault of their own. ❤🙏
My love to Bek and Dom – I lost a child in unusual circumstances nearly 40 years ago – nothing as terrible as what happened to Biddy but I know the grief – there are no right words to bring consolation – how I wish there were.

Is Bridgette Porter’s murderer and family being protected because of the woke movement? Is she now a he? Is that why there’s not been an inquest or release to the parents of relevant information? Are the Mental Health Board and the Justice Department covering up because of the LGBTI threat?
Unimaginable, my heartbreaks for this sweet child and her loving parents. Her killer was born mad, she can’t be cured, she will kill again. Keep her locked up and throw away the key. I hope Bec and Domenic can somehow find some peace.

How can a person who premeditated this murder possibly get manslaughter? Why not convicted of murder? What she did was absolutely horrific and nothing unintentional about it. The treatment she is now getting is shameful. Plus I couldn’t sign the petition as not a NSW resident!

My heart breaks for Bec & Don. I haven’t been able to get this out of my head since watching last night & am so angry with the lack of support & help for them & the total backing of the pure evil killer & her evil parents. Who gives a child a knife & ignores what evil they are told & then calls it an accident 😡 I am a Christian but this young adult does not deserve to have a free life. When this shocking event first happened, it was published who the 14yo and her parents were (no manes) and of course it made sense why Biddy was there. It’s still possible to Google the information. I looked last night. So why is it all now seemingly a secret??
Even if she’s not named most people know who she is, and the relationship, and previous actions of this teenager, so I don’t understand why now it can’t be published. If this was done to my child, I’d want the whole story told, not have it redacted.
Why wasn’t there action taken by her school and by her parents? She was actually telling people she was going to kill, and had killed animals. What she did was heinous and I fear for people if she’s ever released.
