Two giants of the NRL, the Sydney Roosters and Melbourne Storm, will square off in a Thursday Night Footy grudge match to spearhead Round 7 of NRL on Nine.

Live and free from Allianz Stadium in the heart of Sydney, exclusively  for the 9Network will be former Roosters premiership captain Brad Fittler, Storm legends Cameron Smith and Billy Slater, the Eighth Immortal, Andrew Johns, and host James Bracey, with sideline updates by Danika Mason.

In what shapes as a significant night for the team dubbed “the Bondi boys”, the Roosters find themselves up against another club laced with superstars who are looking to show they are serious title threats in 2024.

The Storm ended the Roosters’ season with a narrow semi-final victory in 2023, and will look to strike with their big gamebreakers: Ryan Papenhuyzen, Cameron Munster, Harry Grant, and Xavier Coates with his incredible aerial assaults.

The Roosters will welcome back incumbent Australia and NSW State of Origin captain James Tedesco to boost a backline that features Joey Manu, Joseph Sua’li’i and Luke Keary.

Friday Night Footy travels to the top end in Darwin where the Eels face the Dolphins, then on Sunday Arvo Footy from 3.00pm Nicho Hynes and the Cronulla Sharks take on the North Queensland Cowboys on Channel 9HD and 9Now.

Nine’s game of the round: Roosters v Storm

NRL on Nine expert commentator, Phil Gould, said:

“This is the clash of the heavyweights. There is no doubt the Sydney Roosters and Melbourne Storm have been two of the best performed NRL clubs over the past 25 years.”

“Both clubs boast impressive records and their rivalry is as intense as any match up in the game.”

“Here we are in 2024, and the Roosters and Storm are again amongst the best in the competition.”

“Both are coming off narrow wins last weekend. Both will be super keen to keep the momentum going.”

“Both will put a huge price on these two competition points. You want rugby league at its best? Don’t miss this one.”
