SBS gears up for Eurovision 2024 with live coverage, featuring Myf Warhurst, Joel Creasey, and Courtney Act bringing exclusive insights.

South Australia’s Electric Fields will perform their song “One Milkali (One Blood)” at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden. This year’s entry is notable for incorporating the Yankunytjatjara language, spoken by the Anangu peoples, marking the first time an Aboriginal language will be featured on this global platform.

SBS is set to provide exclusive live coverage of the event, with the esteemed commentary duo Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey returning to the helm. They are joined this year by international superstar Courtney Act, who will offer viewers an exclusive glimpse behind the scenes of the world’s largest music event.

The live broadcasts will commence from Wednesday 8 May at 5:00am AEST, with prime time coverage starting Friday 10 May at 7:30pm AEST, available on SBS and SBS On Demand.

Electric Fields, comprising the unique talents of vocalist Zaachariaha Fielding and producer Michael Ross, are set to captivate audiences with their fusion of contemporary music and traditional culture. Their Eurovision entry, “One Milkali”, expresses a vision of unity and kinship, drawing on the deep-rooted connections of nature and humanity.

The Eurovision schedule includes the prime time airing of Semi Final 1 on Friday 10 May at 7:30pm AEST, where Electric Fields will compete, showcasing the diversity and talent of this year’s entries. Notably, the contest will see the “Big 5” countries—France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom—perform in the semi-finals, with a revamped voting system that emphasizes viewer participation from around the world.

In addition to the competition, SBS offers an extensive range of Eurovision-related content on its SBS On Demand platform, including artist music videos, exclusive interviews, and cultural documentaries, ensuring fans can immerse themselves fully in the Eurovision experience.

SBS World Movies and SBS Food are also joining the celebration, with special programming and culinary journeys inspired by the contest’s host city, Malmö, and the broader Eurovision spirit.

Australian viewers keen to support their favourites (excluding the Australian entry) can vote during the live broadcasts of the Semi Final 1 on Wednesday 8 May and the Grand Final on Sunday 12 May, with further voting information available on the official Eurovision Song Contest website.

This year’s contest, held from Tuesday 7 May to Saturday 11 May in Malmö, Sweden, follows a historic win by Sweden’s Loreen at the 2023 contest. With Sweden hosting for the seventh time, this year also commemorates the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s iconic win with “Waterloo”, highlighting the enduring legacy and global appeal of the Eurovision Song Contest.
