Channel 9 have done what many expected would happen, with changes announced to the presentation of their Early News bulletin from next week, in the classic copycat tale between fierce rivals Channel 7.

The 9News Early bulletin is currently hosted by Today Show’s sports presenter Alex Cullen, and airs from 5:00am on Channel 9 across the country, but appears to be undertaking some changes to the presentation from next week.

Announcing the news at the end of this mornings early bulletin, Alex said:

“For the final time, that’s it for 9News Early for this Friday.”

“We’re changing it up next week, stay tuned.”

“I’m Alex Cullen, thanks for your company and I’ll see you Monday 5:00am for a new chapter for 9News and Today”

It was only a few weeks ago that Channel 7 replaced their early news bulletin, formerly hosted by journalist Jodie Speers, with an extended version of Sunrise with news presenter Edwina Bartholomew as first reported by this site.

The Today Show currently airs from 5:30am Monday – Friday, with Weekend Today airing from 7:00am Saturdays & Sundays on Channel 9 and 9Now
