Disney+ is set to premiere a captivating new documentary titled “The Beach Boys” on May 24, 2024, offering audiences an in-depth look into the illustrious career of the iconic band known for embodying the quintessential California sound. This announcement comes alongside the release of the documentary’s trailer and key artwork.
Charting the journey of The Beach Boys from their modest family origins, the documentary promises to deliver an unparalleled exploration of the band’s influence on pop music, featuring rare footage and fresh interviews with band members Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, and Bruce Johnston. It also includes insights from music industry luminaries such as Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, and Don Was.
Notably, the film allows viewers to hear directly from Carl and Dennis Wilson through archival materials, alongside a new conversation with Blondie Chaplin and audio from Ricky Fataar.
Produced by a collaboration between Kennedy/Marshall and White Horse Pictures, the documentary is the creative vision of directors Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny, with Mark Monroe penning the script. The project boasts a production team led by Frank Marshall and Irving Azoff, among others, with a robust team of executive producers.

Complementing the film’s release, the official soundtrack, “The Beach Boys: Music From The Documentary,” will be accessible for streaming and download starting May 24, courtesy of Capitol/UMe. This follows the special release of the band’s 1964 album “Shut Down, Vol. 2” on limited edition blue and white marble vinyl.
