In some somewhat surprising news, it appears Network 10 are getting ready to dive into the Shark Tank again with news that the show has opened casting for a new season in 2024.

Shark Tank returned last year for its fifth season following a five-year hiatus from Australian television screens, again screening on its traditional Tuesday night where it had aired for it’s prior two seasons, but in an earlier 7:30pm timeslot.

But has the network jumped the shark with a renewal?

Whilst once a successful and consistent post 8:30pm performer for the network, the refreshed series in 2023 really failed to mark a mark on audiences in the earlier slot, with an average overnight audience of sub 250,000 5-city metro viewers.

A casting notice posted online on Tuesday reads:

Shark Tank Australia is continuing its search for the best entrepreneurs that Australia has to offer.

Do you have a brilliant brand, innovative invention or a powerhouse product that you are excited to bring to market?

Does it need investment to thrive?

Our Sharks are armed with their own hard-earned cash and they’re looking for Australian businesses to invest in.

If you’re interested in being unleashed into the Tank we would love to hear from you.

The refreshed Shark & Investor line-up consisted of marketing guru Sabri Suby, AI expert Dr. Catriona Wallace, Oodie founder David Fogarty, Shopo owner Jane Lu, and OG Shark from the US version of Shark Tank – Robert Herjavec.

It remains to be seen what sharks return for the new season this year, along with any possible format and time slot changes the network and production company may look to make for the sixth season to address viewership numbers.

Any budding entrepreneurs interested in possibly being part of the show can apply here.
