Melanie Bracewell and Tim McDonald reunite for The Cheap Seats’ new season. Experience a unique blend of comedy and current affairs…
The Cheap Seats, the news and current affairs programme with a twist, is gearing up for its fourth season premiere on Tuesday, 30 April at 8:30 pm, available on Channel 10 and 10 Play.
Known for its unique blend of humour and reporting, the show has faced criticism for its perceived light-hearted approach in previous seasons. However, the upcoming season aims to address these concerns head-on.
Hosts Melanie Bracewell and Tim McDonald have acknowledged the feedback and are set to take a more substantial stance on news coverage. Despite personal differences, with Bracewell jokingly noting,
“Despite Tim and I not being on speaking terms, I’m willing to fake it for the 2024 season of The Cheap Seats.
I’m hearing whispers that ‘Across The Ditch’ will be returning, bigger and better than ever! I am the one doing the whispering,” there’s a clear commitment to elevate the show’s content.
McDonald echoes this enthusiasm for the new season, stating,
“We’re so excited to be back for Season 4! New year, new stories, but the brief remains the same – Media Watch meets Love Island. 2024 will be a year of big events, from the Olympics in Paris to the US Election.
I think there’s even a pickleball tournament in Launceston. We’ve got it all covered.“
The Cheap Seats will see the return of its beloved segments, including Mel’s Markets, Timfomercials, and What’s On What’s On In The Warehouse, alongside the much-anticipated Across The Ditch. Comedians Bracewell and McDonald, together with Cultural Correspondent Mel Tracina, are set to cover a wide array of significant events, ensuring that season four will not only entertain but also inform its audience.
