Star Wars: Tales of the Empire on Disney+: An animated journey of vengeance and survival premieres May 4.
Disney+ is set to enrich the Star Wars universe with its latest addition, Star Wars: Tales of the Empire. The streaming giant unveiled the trailer, alongside key art and stills, heralding the arrival of this original animated series crafted by Lucasfilm.
Serving as the sequel to the 2022 series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, which received critical acclaim, Tales of the Empire shares a similar stylistic vision. The new series is scheduled for an exclusive release on Disney+ on May 4, aligning with Star Wars Day, and will feature all six episodes for fans to binge.
Tales of the Empire offers a unique perspective into the Galactic Empire’s formidable era through the narratives of two warriors with contrasting destinies, unfolding across various timelines. Viewers will follow young Morgan Elsbeth, who seeks vengeance after a devastating loss, and Barriss Offee, a former Jedi striving to adapt in a galaxy under transformation.
The series boasts an impressive voice cast, including Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, Meredith Salenger as Barriss Offee, Rya Kihlstedt as Lyn aka Fourth Sister, Wing T. Chao as Wing, Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn, Jason Isaacs as Grand Inquisitor, and Matthew Wood as General Grievous.
Behind the scenes, Dave Filoni not only created the series but also oversees it as the supervising director, alongside his role as an executive producer with Athena Yvette Portillo and Carrie Beck. The production team also includes Josh Rimes as co-executive producer and Alex Spotswood as the senior producer.
