From farm labour to outback survival, watch Brits Down Under on 9Now and see who can meet the Aussie challenge
Join a bunch of intrepid young backpacking Brits as they head deep into the Australian Outback for some intense manual labour when all six episodes of Brit’s Down Under launch exclusively on 9Now on Friday, February 16.
The series follows a group of lively 18-30-year-olds over the course of a month as they live and work together in the hopes of earning an extension to their working holiday visas. It will be fight or flight for some of them…
Who will still be there at the end of the month? Who can hack it, and live up to Aussie standards? And who wants to go running home?
EPISODE 1
The group arrive to begin their 88 days of manual labour. They’re greeted by local farmer Grant and his Spanish partner Maeva, who for the last 12 years have been welcoming wide eyed young travellers to their farm stay home. Once the new group of backpackers have settled in, Grant puts them to the test on his farm to see what they’re capable of, and whether he’ll be sending them off work on the surrounding farms…or not!
EPISODE 2
The backpackers are five days into their remote farm stay adventure and those lucky enough to have paid work are sent off to graft on a goat farm. After being fired from his previous farm job, Grant gives Elliot a second chance, but it doesn’t go well. Grant takes the rest of the backpackers into the outback for a camping trip, but their thirteen tonne truck gets firmly wedged in knee deep mud. The Brits have to pull together to attempt to rescue it.
EPISODE 3
Today Jordon is packing pomegranates, Abbey and Elliot are at a citrus farm while Annise, Tuesday, Joanne and Lily are sent to a local fruit farm to help with the picking. For the rest of the backpackers there’s no paid work, and despite what they might think, that doesn’t mean a day off! Grant and Maeva run a tight ship and there are chores to be done as well as looking after Ravioli the baby goat!
EPISODE 4
It’s Saturday and despite the rain, some of the backpackers make the most of their day off and head to the nearest town to get kitted out before going to the town’s annual rodeo show, where pulling a cowboy is on the agenda! Back at the farm, Grant’s doing a spot check to make sure the backpackers are sticking to the house rules and is horrified by what he finds.
EPISODE 5
With only nine backpackers remaining the pressure is on to impress Grant and the local farmers. Andy surprises himself when he manages to put up a fence, Lily gets her hands on some big machinery and Nico and Lily’s nerves are put to the test when they have to rescue a trapped goat.
EPISODE 6
Jordon and Lily’s relationship blossoms and Gary reveals he’s heard some action in the bunk beds. At dinner there’s an awkward fall out between two of the backpackers and some dodgy chicken wreaks havoc for Tuesday’s pomegranate picking. As their time at the farm stay draws to a close, Elliot and Abbey put on an awards ceremony for the group to celebrate their time together. Everyone is surprised to see a more sensitive and emotional side to Grant.
