Nine’s relationship reality juggernaut shows no signs of slowing as audiences flock to MAFS.

*** NOTE: NEW METRICS AND REPORTS ***

  • Total TV Overnight Top 30 and Consolidated 7 Top 30 reach is calculated using cumulative unique audiences watching 1 min of broadcast TV and 15 sec of BVOD.
  • Total TV National audience is calculated using the audience average for the program as time-coded by the Network across 5CM and all regional markets nationally watching on broadcast TV.
  • BVOD national audience is calculated using the total number of minutes watched (multiplied by co-viewing factor) divided by the length of the program.

PRIMETIME ANALYSIS

Another monster night for Nine as Married At First Sight (2,594,000 reach | 1,549,000 avg) came out the gate with the first commitment ceremony and mind-boggling numbers for the franchise – up significantly on last week’s ep. Seven’s Australian Idol (1,917,000 reach | 788,000 avg) plugged away as it dove into the first contestant cull (and maintained its audience) of the series, while Australian Survivor (1,098,000 reach | 577,000 avg) on Channel 10 continued to do its best and fed its very-slowly-growing fanbase with more quality gameplay from the contestants – an under-appreciated reality gem of the modern era.

The Sunday Project (908,000 reach | 323,000 avg) continued to struggle to find a foothold as it starts the week as consistently one of the lowest rating eps for the franchise, though lifts slightly on last week’s ep.

The ABC’s Sunday night drew its loyal audience again with the season two finale of Muster Dogs (1,171,000 reach | 773,000 avg) and the penultimate episode of brilliant drama Total Control (708,000 reach | 420,000 avg).

60 Minutes (1,810,000 reach | 815,000 avg) benefitted from the MAFS reach bubble inflating its reach figures and stood up in the later primetime slot to win, helping Nine to win the first night of the 2024 ratings year…even though it ticked down a little on last week. The audience for Ron Iddles: The Good Cop (1,183,000 reach | 542,000 avg) slipped a little yet remained consistent.
