It’s not even a competition. (MAFS more than double Idol’s national average.)

*** NOTE: NEW METRICS AND REPORTS ***

  • Total TV Overnight Top 30 and Consolidated 7 Top 30 reach is calculated using cumulative unique audiences watching 1 min of broadcast TV and 15 sec of BVOD.
  • Total TV National audience is calculated using the audience average for the program as time-coded by the Network across 5CM and all regional markets nationally watching on broadcast TV.
  • BVOD national audience is calculated using the total number of minutes watched (multiplied by co-viewing factor) divided by the length of the program.

PRIMETIME ANALYSIS

Another big night for the three big reality shows ended exactly as we all predicted:
Married At First Sight (2,519,000 reach | 1,496,000 avg) on Nine
Australian Idol (1,562,000 reach | 733,000 avg) on Seven
Australian Survivor (1,055,000 reach | 590,000 avg) on Channel 10.

The commercial 7pm battle was just as tense (for some):
A Current Affair (1,795,000 reach | 1,105,000 avg) on Nine
Home and Away (1,265,000 reach | 848,000 avg) on Seven
The Project (908,000 reach | 335,000 avg) on 10.

On the ABC, the second very excellent ep of Nemesis (1,495,000 reach | 947,000 avg) lifted significantly on last week’s figures, and the 2024 return of Media Watch (879,000 reach | 667,000 avg) drew an audience following that set its new standard for the new ratings year.

Nine’s Big Miracles (1,648,000 reach | 535,000 avg) easily beat out Seven’s repeat airing of 64th Annual Grammy Awards (1,267,000 reach | 274,000 avg), thanks in no small part to the MAFS reach bubble (and the latter having already been broadcast earlier in the day by the network).
