Seven Network Hosts WSL Championship Tour, Including Lexus Pipe Pro

Australian surfing enthusiasts can catch the exhilarating action of the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour starting with the Lexus Pipe Pro in Hawaii. This premiere event will be broadcast live on Seven Network’s 7plus platform, commencing at 5.00am AEDT on Tuesday, 30th January.

A remarkable lineup of Australian surfers is set to compete in both the men’s and women’s categories. Notable names include Ethan Ewing (world ranked #2), Jack Robinson (#5), and Ryan Callinan (#10) in the men’s division. For the women, Tyler Wright (#3), Molly Picklum (#5), and Sally Fitzgibbons (#11) are expected to make significant waves.

Seven Network has committed to airing every event of the WSL Championship Tour for the fifth year in a row, all free of charge on 7plus. This includes the iconic Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach, a revered site in Australian surfing.

The schedule for the upcoming WSL events on Seven and 7plus is as follows:

  • Hurley Pro at Sunset Beach, Oahu, Hawaii (12-22 February)
  • MEO Rip Curl Pro, Portugal (6-16 March)
  • Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach, Victoria (26 March-5 April)
  • Margaret River Pro, Western Australia (11-21 April)
  • SHISEIDO Tahiti Pro, French Polynesia (22-31 May)
  • Surf City El Salvador Pro, El Salvador (6-15 June)
  • VIVO Rio Pro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (22-30 June)
  • Corona Fiji Pro, Fiji (20-29 August)
  • WSL Finals, San Clemente, California, United States (6-14 September)

Additional to the live broadcasts, surfing fans will have access to extensive WSL content on-demand, including highlight shows and special features on 7plus.

Lewis Martin, Head of Network Sport and Managing Director of Seven Melbourne, expressed excitement over the continued partnership with the WSL and the strong presence of Australian surfers in the top world rankings. He emphasized the significance of surfing in Australian culture and the anticipation of a highly successful Championship Tour.

7plus will cover all stages of the WSL Championship Tour and Australian Challenger Series events. The coverage will also include the Rip Curl WSL Finals and 11 hour-long highlight shows of the Championship Tour events.

Surfing fans should also note the upcoming BYD Pro, set to be aired live from URBNSURF Melbourne on 3 February at 4.30pm AEDT on Seven, featuring over 120 top surfers from the Australia / Oceania region.
