In an exciting development for quiz show enthusiasts, The Chase Australia is set to return next week with a groundbreaking format variation titled Double Trouble.
This innovative concept is being introduced as the show gears up for heightened competition, coinciding with the debut of Tipping Point Australia on Channel 9.
For the first time in the show’s history, contestants will be pitted against not just one, but two of the formidable Chasers in each episode. This novel approach promises to elevate the challenge and excitement levels of the game.
The dynamic duos featured in The Chase Australia Double Trouble include formidable combinations such as The Supernerd and Goliath, The Supernerd and The Smiling Assassin, and The Shark and Tiger Mum. This format, a world-first for The Chase, is produced by ITV Studios Australia for the Seven Network.
Each episode of Double Trouble will showcase four contestants facing off against two Chasers, with pairings such as The Supernerd and The Smiling Assassin, Supernerd and Goliath, and The Shark and Tiger Mum. What makes this format even more intriguing is that the contestants are superfans of the Chasers, chosen specifically for their enthusiasm and knowledge about their favourite quizmasters.
The unique aspect of Double Trouble lies in the collaboration of two Chasers in a single game, a rare occurrence that has brought a fresh dynamic to the show. This new format has not only excited the contestants but also the Chasers themselves, who relish the rare opportunity to work alongside each other.
According to host Larry Emdur, the special is akin to “watching Full Frontal take over the show”, highlighting the humorous and unexpected moments that arise from the Chasers sharing the game.
In an interesting twist, contestants who advance to the final Chase will have the opportunity to select the Chaser they wish to challenge, providing insight into their decision.
For example, a contestant from Cornwall, United Kingdom, who admires Issa, chose to compete against him to prove himself as the smartest man from Cornwall.
“The stakes are higher, the challenges are tougher, and the entertainment is unparalleled as the game turns on its head. Prepare to witness the greatest Chaser battles ever,”
Despite the heightened excitement and unique format, there is no increase in the cash prizes for Double Trouble. However, the allure of the show remains strong, especially with all contestants being superfans of the Chasers, adding a personal element to their participation.
% of the chaser winning when there is one
Groundbreaking? Remember ‘Beat The Chasers Australia’?
Michael Hughes
No what is that?
How is any team going to win against 2 Chasers ? They hardly ever won against one.
People are saying there is no point in this double trouble version because they hardly ever win anyway but that’s not necessarily true guys.
Every now and again they win.
You just need to watch it more but I hear what you’re saying.
It will be extra harder but at the end of the day fans, the point is to make it more exciting.
I don’t know why you’re all complaining about this when you like the show and the contestants are chosen specifically because they are extra fans of The Chase so it’s not just any Joe blow going on there to win money.
Get excited guys.
Ps Larry is a heaps better host that former crazy hyper host, Andrew O’Keefe.
He was so weird the way he read the questions was like he was drunk! 🥴
Larry Emdur is heaps, nicer and better then Andrew O’Keefe
So why has the new format only been on for two days? Monday and Tuesday?
Larry is asking questions much faster to the chaser than the contestants I’ve been watching very carefully and it getting very interesting It’s wrong
Virginia Manzie No he isn’t he’s reading them, the exact same speed.
What has happened to the new format of the chase? It lasted just two episodes.
The new version is only on Monday and Tuesdays there’s going to be up to 7 episodes
