Magic Millions on Seven: A Showcase of Summer Racing’s Finest
The Seven Network is gearing up to present the Magic Millions Raceday, a pinnacle event in Australia’s summer racing calendar. Set for broadcast this Saturday, 13 January, the event promises a combination of high-stakes horse racing and on-track glamour, live from the Gold Coast Turf Club.
Commencing at 12.00pm AEDT, the coverage will be available on Channel 7, 7two, and 7plus. At the helm of the broadcast is Bruce McAvaney, a revered figure in Australian sports broadcasting. He will be accompanied by a skilled team, including Hamish McLachlan, Emma Freedman, Jason Richardson, Lizzie Jelfs, and Daniel MacPherson. Adding to the allure, Kate Waterhouse will provide exclusive insights into the trackside fashion and festivities across various broadcast and social media platforms, including 7horseracing and 7racingstyle.
The event’s highlight, the $3 million 2YO Classic, is part of an 11-race program boasting a total prize purse of $14.25 million. Races worth over $1 million each will feature prominently throughout the day. Notably, Storm Boy, a top contender purchased through the Magic Millions Sale auctions, is expected to face stiff competition from rivals like Spywire.
Another marquee race, the $3 million Magic Millions Guineas for three-year-olds, also sees a boost in its prize money for 2024. The Magic Millions Raceday marks the climax of a significant week on the Gold Coast, which includes the Magic Millions yearling sales, accessible live on 7plus until Tuesday, 16 January.
The excitement doesn’t end with horse racing. Following the Magic Millions Raceday, sports enthusiasts can look forward to an action-packed week on Seven. The lineup includes the 2024 Santos Tour Down Under, NFL playoffs, the concluding week of the Big Bash League’s regular season, and the first Test between Australia and the West Indies at the Adelaide Oval, starting Wednesday, 17 January.
Cricket fans are in for a special treat with the Big Bash League finals series, which will be broadcast live following 7NEWS on the first day of the Australia v West Indies Test.
Seven’s commitment to racing broadcasting remains unwavering in 2024. Their coverage in 2023 reached over 10.1 million Australians, a 7% increase from the previous year. Thanks to long-term agreements with Racing Victoria and Racing NSW, which extend to 2027 and include collaborations with Racing Queensland and Racing SA, Seven is firmly established as the home of elite racing in Australia.
