Rhys & Joel’s Family Christmas – premieres 22 December
Rhys Nicholson and Joel Creasey, two of Australia’s most loved and awarded comedians, join forces to tour a live and deliciously cheeky “anything goes” Christmas show. The show features Rhys and Joel at their very best as well as stand-up, musical comedy, surprise celebrity appearances and on-stage games in a truly camp Christmas variety special. Rhys and Joel are joined by special guests including Dave Hughes, Nazeem Hussain, Geraldine Hickey, Chrissie Swan, Eddie Perfect, Kate Miller-Heidke, Rob Mills, Christie Whelan Browne, Sabrina Frederick and Georgia Mooney.
A Savage Christmas – now streaming
Nominated for a 2024 AACTA Award for Best Indie Film, A Savage Christmas is a modern love story about identity, family and the hilarious antics that ensue when a dysfunctional family comes together to celebrate Christmas in regional Australia. The film stars Darren Gilshenan, Helen Thomson, Ryan Morgan, David Roberts, Thea Raveneau, Max Jahufer, Rekha Ryan, and Gary Sweet. Directed by Madeleine Dyer.
Christmess
Written and directed by Heath Davis, new Australian film Christmess marks the big screen debut of acclaimed alternative rock band Middle Kids’ Hannah Joy, while the film also stars Steve Le Marquand and Darren Gilshenan. The film follows a once famous actor who is now performing as Santa Claus in a mall because of his alcohol addiction. After accidentally meeting his estranged daughter he seeks help for his recovery in order to win his daughter’s forgiveness.
The Last Year of Television 2023 – premiers 28 December
To roundup the year, television critic Mitch McTaggart returns with The Last Year of Television 2023 for another hilarious, poignant and sobering look back at the year that was on our TV.
Taskmaster – premieres 3 January
