Is it a bird or a plane? It’s Supernanny! Or is it?

TV Blackbox dissects this interesting post from Warner Bros Australia.

In a recently published casting notice, Australian production company Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia recently put out a casting call for a nanny who “wants to share their expert advice in a new reality TV series”.

What kind of TV show would be after a nanny?

The post reads:

We are searching for a nanny, parenting expert, or childcare professional who can infuse their experience and wisdom into Australian homes and tackle some of the toughest situations.

Supernanny starring Jo Frost was a popular parenting show in the mid 2000s, viewers across the world were captivated by how Jo and her magical nannying ways could turn bratty and misbehaving kids into little angels.

Perhaps we will see some kind of Australian Reboot in 2024?

Over the years, there have even been multiple attempts to create an Australian version of Supernanny that have appeared and been scrapped before the show has ever appeared on air. Back in 2020, it was announced Jo Frost would star in a show called The Parent Jury by Eureka Productions which transformed into Parental Guidance, a show that did not involve Frost.

Parental Guidance has had two seasons on Channel 9 with modest success. Maybe another network is trying to create another parenting show? Parenting shows tend to be highly emotive and engaging and their audiences tend to be loyal.

So far, Jo Frost has made no announcements about returning to TV in 2024, particularly to Australia.

Channel 10 who partners with Warner Bros for other productions like The Bachelor, The Masked Singer and Gladiators may also be behind this casting call.

All the free-to-air channels have released their upfronts for 2024 and no one has announced any kind of parenting show.

There’s definitely more to come here.
