All of the television networks have now revealed their content slates for 2024 at their recent Upfronts presentations, but one show was left out of the announcements and it’s not what you may expect..

In a casting notice seen by TV Blackbox, Australian production company Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia recently put out a casting call for an exciting new tv series “seeking single seniors”.

The post reads:

We are looking fun, active, and outgoing male seniors aged 60 or over who are divorced / widowed and open to meeting the next love of their life in our ground-breaking new series.

We want to hear from you or anyone who would like to nominate someone they know to take part in the show.

We want to celebrate love at every age and show that when it comes to finding love and romance, age is just a number!

Given the same production company is also responsible for Channel 10 series The Bachelors Australia, which premieres soon on Sunday December 3rd, and former series The Bachelorette Australia and Bachelor In Paradise Australia, we can probably expect that this new series is likely going to be spin-off series The Golden Bachelors.

An casting call for the series was first seen in the US in early 2020 which called for men and women aged 65 and older to apply, with the series delayed for some time due to the pandemic, however earlier this year it was announced that ABC Network in the US had officially commissioned the first season to premiere in 2023.

The series launched stateside last month following Thursday night staple Bachelor in Paradise US (available in Australia fast-tracked on 10 play), and since premiering its audience grew week-on-week with the launch episode doubling in views with multi-platform viewing, seemingly becoming a success for viewers in the US.

What do you think, would a local version of The Golden Bachelor work in Australia? Or is it too similar to My Mum Your Dad currently seen on Channel 9? Let us know in the comments below!
