Channel 9 is set to reel viewers back into the enigmatic realm of Australia’s unresolved crimes with a new season of Million Dollar Murders.

The new season will witness the tenacious Detective Superintendent Deborah Wallace coming out of retirement to delve into the enigmas of cold cases that have remained unsolved for decades.

Wallace, in collaboration with Homicide divisions nationwide, is driven by a compelling incentive: a whopping one million dollar reward. This significant amount stands as a potential bounty for crucial information that culminates in an arrest and subsequent conviction.

The stakes are high, and Wallace’s methodical approach involves discussions with professional peers, as well as meticulous interviews with key witnesses, detectives, and grieving family members. Her mission? To unearth a forgotten memory or persuade someone to finally step forward, thereby seeking justice for the suffering victims and their kin.

For its kickoff episode, the series shines a spotlight on the tragic case of Melissa Hunt. Her life was brutally cut short in 1994, with her remains discovered in a dam near Newcastle, New South Wales. A heartrending case that has left an indelible mark on both the community and Melissa’s kin for over 30 years.

Furthermore, audiences can expect the Western Australia Police Force to make significant contributions this season. One particular episode will focus on the harrowing case of a child’s murder that sent shockwaves through the state.

Over the ensuing three-week period, accompany Wallace in her relentless quest to gather information and hunt for clues. Her singular objective? To ensure that those responsible for such barbaric acts face the stringent arm of the law.

Million Dollar Murders returns Monday, October 23 at 8:40pm on Channel 9 and 9Now
