Production in Queensland has concluded for the second season of ABC’s Troppo, witnessing a return of Thomas Jane and Nicole Chamoun to their roles as private investigators Ted Conkaffey and Amanda Pharrell.

The inaugural season took inspiration from Candice Fox’s literary work, Crimson Lake. Season two draws from Fox’s subsequent book, Redemption Point. The plot unfolds six months later, where Ted and Amanda probe into a peculiar murder intertwined with an exotic drug syndicate.

Concurrently, Amanda finds herself ensnared with a familiar adversary and a budding romance. Ted’s history menacingly lurks, trailing him and his kin to Crimson Lake, resulting in perilous ramifications.

The supporting cast is enriched with talent, including Zindzi Okenyo, Simon Lyndon, Radha Mitchell, Ursula Yovich, Miah Madden, Ethan Lwin, Georgina Naidu, Angela Punch McGregor, Brett Tucker, Robert Mammone, Di Adams, Meyne Wyatt, Fletcher Humphrys, Caroline O’Connor, Ling Cooper Tang, Cramer Cain, Sara West, and Arka Das.

Behind the creation of ‘Troppo’ are Perpetual Entertainment and Beyond Entertainment, with an association from Jane’s enterprise, Renegade Entertainment. Season two’s primary financing hailed from AGC Television, in collaboration with Screen Queensland.

The mastermind behind the series is executive producer Yolanda Ramke. Lisa Duff is at the helm of production, and Karl Zwicky as the series producer. The executive producer list for Perpetual encompasses both Duff and Greg Quail, with Mikael Borglund and David Ogilvy from Beyond. AGC Studios have Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz, and co-executive producer Matt Bankston, whilst Renegade features both Jane and Courtney Lauren Penn.

Season two’s scripts have the touch of writers like Andrew Anastasios, who also functioned as a script producer, along with Jane Allen, Chelsea Cassio, Boyd Quakawoot, Angela McDonald, Kit Brookman, and Cole Haddon. Jane showcases his directing finesse this season, accompanied by Grant Brown and Robyn Grace.

The heads of the department encompass Tony O’Loughlan as the cinematographer, Jon Dowding for production design, Paul Warren curating costumes, Sharon Robbins and Kerryn Flewell-Smith leading hair and makeup, music composition by Josh Pyke, and Pam Collis as the line producer.

An economic boon for Queensland, Troppo’s second season has reportedly pumped over $9 million into its coffers and offered employment opportunities for approximately 160 cast and crew members.

The ABC is expected to confirm broadcast details about season two of Troppo at its upcoming Upfronts Event
