An acclaimed UK mystery thriller that has already drawn attention overseas is finally available for local viewers, with The Woman in the Wall now arriving on BritBox in Australia.

Starring and executive produced by Ruth Wilson (Luther, Saving Mr. Banks, Jane Eyre), the six part drama centres on a woman whose life begins to unravel after she wakes to find a corpse in her home.

Set in a small Irish town, the story follows Wilson’s Lorna Brady as an investigation begins to uncover decades of secrets linked to a local convent and its survivors.

Daryl McCormack (Bad Sisters, Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) stars opposite Wilson as Detective Colman Akande, whose pursuit of the truth draws him into a case involving missing children, abuse allegations and long buried secrets.

The cast also includes Simon Delaney (The Conjuring 2), Philippa Dunne (Amandaland), Mark Huberman (Band of Brothers), Hilda Fay (House of Guinness) and Frances Tomelty (Outlander).

First premiering in the UK in 2023 before making its US debut in early 2024, the series combines psychological drama, crime and social themes against the backdrop of a community haunted by its past.

Created and written by Joe Murtagh (Calm with Horses), the series was directed by Harry Wootliff and Rachna Suri, with Wilson also serving as an executive producer.

Produced by Motive Pictures as a co-production between the BBC and Showtime, The Woman in the Wall is distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

The Woman in the Wall is now streaming exclusively on BritBox in Australia.
