Channel 10 has dropped the first extended promo for its newest culinary venture, MasterChef: Dessert Masters.

Set to premiere this November, the spin-off is an avant-garde addition to the famed MasterChef Australia franchise, with a sharp focus on the finesse of dessert-making.

Melissa Leong, known prominently for her indispensable role as a judge on MasterChef Australia and her illustrious career encompassing facets of being a food critic, cookbook editor, and radio presenter, pairs up with the internationally celebrated pastry chef, Amaury Guichon, to steer this series.

Guichon, hailing from Cannes, boasts of a remarkable digital footprint, having amassed over 50 million followers on social platforms. His creations – a diverse array from roulette wheels to skateboards crafted in chocolate – have made waves globally. Notably, at the tender age of 21, he scaled the heights of the culinary world in Paris, being appointed as the youngest executive pastry chef.

Additionally, his 2021 Netflix series, School of Chocolate, received considerable acclamation.

Reflecting on his forthcoming role, Guichon expressed,

“I feel very honoured to have been chosen to be part of this wonderful new adventure that will once again highlight our beautiful industry with all its craft and complexity.

I am excited to discover what the contestants will create in order to wow us!”

On the other hand, Leong, who has closely worked with Australian culinary giants like Adriano Zumbo and Gelato Messina, voiced her anticipation,

“Desserts have the capacity to be magical. I’m excited to see what these talented chefs are capable of when let loose in the MasterChef kitchen.

Creating a memorable dessert takes years of practice, technique and an exacting eye for detail. Throw people with these qualities into a place like the MasterChef kitchen and stand back… who knows what they will bring to life.”

A whopping $100,000 awaits the victor of this intense competition. Ten renowned names from the dessert-making domain will grace the series, including Kirsten Tibballs, Reynold Poernomo, Anna Polyviou, Adriano Zumbo, Jess Liemantara, Morgan Hipworth, Kay-Lene Tan, Andy Bowdy, Rhiann Mead, and Gareth Whitton.

The series encapsulates the rigorous, intricate, and artful domain of dessert preparation. As Australia waits with bated breath, these dessert maestros are poised to battle it out in the culinary arena, striving not just for the prestigious title of the nation’s first Dessert Master, but also to etch their mark in the annals of dessert-making history.

Dessert Masters is set to premiere on Channel 10 and 10 Play this November.
