The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition saw a shock turn of events as Grant Denyer and Chezzi Denyer faced elimination in the heart of India, Agra.

The city famed for its romantic ambience set the backdrop for a series of challenges that tested the limits of our celebrity contestants.

Starting off in New Delhi, the participants were tasked with delivering traditional chai tea to office workers, but with a twist – no aid from technology. Instead, they had to depend solely on the kindness and guidance of the locals. The catch, however? Not every local had the best directions to give. Some were over-enthusiastic, even leading some astray with their assistance.

A significant challenge awaited at the Detour: participants had to decide between washing laundry in the Yamuna River or moulding fire bricks from an unusual natural material – cow dung. Here, Pam and her elder brother George had their disagreements, while germ-conscious sisters Bec Judd and Kate Twigley were in for a shock. They had avoided the river to steer clear of its waters but were soon knee-deep in dung.

The river challenge intensified when a sudden monsoon drenched the celebrities, complicating their tasks. Alli and Angie, in their rush, overlooked their bags at the tea shop and had to retrace their steps. Jana Pitman, a mother to six, however, breezed through the challenge with her stain-removal skills.

At the Intersection, teams had to showcase their dance moves by performing a Bollywood dance routine. The newly formed all-girl group comprising Alli, Angie, Emma, and Hayley, dubbed the Masala Spice Girls, successfully completed their routine in one go.

Quipping about his Gold Logie’s inability to spare him the messy task, Grant Denyer commented, “Hey man, I won Dancing with the Stars twice!

However, not all teams found their rhythm easily. Jana used her maternal instincts to pacify an upset Cor, much to the relief of Harry and Teddy. Meanwhile, George, the strategist, convinced Pam, Bec, and Kate to opt for a time penalty instead of facing the dance challenge.

Despite his previous triumphs on Dancing With The Stars, the soaring 45-degree heat proved overwhelming for Grant Denyer. After wrapping up the dance routine alongside his wife Chezzi, Grant’s health began to deteriorate rapidly. “We were cooking from the inside,” Chezzi remarked.

Her frantic voice echoed, “You need to sit down. Grant? You’re not OK, are you? You’re looking like you’re going to faint,” before the scene cut to black. On-site medics moved Grant to a cooler location, where he lay pale and shivering, slipping in and out of consciousness.

He’s not looking good – he’s shivering on the floor,” stated fellow contestant George Mlavenov. Confirming the seriousness of the situation, the medical team highlighted Grant’s alarmingly low blood pressure.

Although Grant regained enough strength to move about, it was deemed unsafe for him to continue the race. As a result, the Denyers became the second team to face elimination. In a lighthearted moment amidst the tension, Grant humorously introduced himself to the medic as Larry Emdur, causing chuckles amidst the concern.

The race culminated at the iconic Taj Mahal, where host Beau Ryan awaited the teams. Emma and Hayley claimed the first spot, with Alli and Angie closely behind. Recognizing Grant and Chezzi’s unwavering determination, Beau personally delivered the news of their elimination.

The emotional moment was marred by another health scare as Grant collapsed again but was promptly attended to. Fortunately, the nation’s beloved host made a complete recovery.

Tune in next Wednesday as our celebrities venture into the waters, with expected fun and challenges on The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition.
