Despite Channel 10’s win in primetime, it still got shunted to fourth overall.

Channel 7

Home & Away (392,000 7pm; 336,000 7:30pm-8:30pm Late) delivered as expected for Seven, while an AFL-final themed The Front Bar (445,000) offered Grand Final ratings (especially in MEL – 247,000). Meanwhile, repeats of The 1% Club Australia (231,000) and MKR (38,000) run into the late night with some success.

Seven first in both primary (23.3%) and network (30.4%) rankings.

Channel 9

Starting as Nine’s best for the night, A Current Affair (572,000) opened the door to a nostalgic look at 30 Years of the Grand Final Footy Show (205,000 MEL/ADL/PER) which is humiliated by Seven’s offering in the same markets, while RBT (190,000) and Emergency (151,000) slide back and forth because of the grand final interruption. Casualty 24/7 (77,000 SYD/BNE) alternatively fills out the night, with everything/everyone finishing with Chicago Med (37,000).

Nine second in both primary (19.3%) and network (27.8%) rankings.

ABC

7:30 (,000) and Foreign Correspondent (379,000) opened the ABC’s account with moderate success, which continued through Grand Designs: House of the Year (260,000). Repeats of Griff’s Great Australian Rail Trip (193,000), Art Works (67,000), and The Whiteley Art Scandal (33,000) filled out an otherwise unenthusiastic evening.

ABC third in both primary (11.3%) and network (16.5%) rankings.

Channel 10

The Project (164,000 6:30pm; 261,000 7pm) dips back down from the heights of the previous night, though Gogglebox Australia (435,000) manages to perform well against the AFL-themed distractions on the other commercial networks. Michael Hing – Long Live The Hing (115,000) draws a smaller audience, followed by repeats of The Cheap Seats (71,000) and Law & Order: SVU (30,000) doing similar.

10 fourth in both primary (10.3%) and network (16.3%) rankings.

SBS fifth in both primary (3.7%) and network (9%) rankings.
