In a bid to rekindle the nostalgia of a time gone by, Network 10 has unveiled its cast for the forthcoming reboot of the hit series ‘Gladiators’.

Eager viewers have spotted Jett Kenny among the list of familiar and fresh faces.

Sandor Earl, a former star of NRL, will be joining the ranks, as will powerlifting maestro Jaymii Morris and professional athlete Harriet Roberts. Fans of the Ninja Warrior franchise will be thrilled to see Kwame Duah, a bodybuilding enthusiast and previous contender on the show.

Adding more muscle and expertise, the cast is further bolstered by Blessings Chilufya, an F45 trainer, and fitness expert Damien Rider.

The stunts will be taken up a notch with Hollywood’s own Chanique Greyling. CrossFit aficionados will also have their interests piqued with champions Alethea Boon, Khan Porter, and Katelin van Zyl featuring in the mix. Completing this robust lineup is Tatyanna Dumas, touted as Australia’s youngest contender on Ninja Warrior.

The news comes after TV Blackbox announced the show would be returning in July, and confirmed the show’s return on Channel 10 in August.

Set to roll cameras in Sydney in October, this refreshed iteration of ‘Gladiators’ is evoking fond memories for many. In its heyday on Channel 7, the show commanded a staggering viewership exceeding two million Australians per episode.

Parallelly, UK audiences are also in for a treat as the BBC undertakes filming its modernised version of ‘Gladiators’. The UK variant promises a fusion of novel games and timeless challenges, notably the crowd-pleaser, The Eliminator.

2024 is set to be a thrilling year, as the reimagined ‘Gladiators’ will have its competitors—fondly dubbed as the 21st-century superhumans—grapple with each other, testing their mettle in speed, strength, stamina, agility, and power. The revamped arena will witness a mix of fresh events and beloved challenges like Hang Tough, Duel, The Wall, Power Ball, Pyramid, and of course, The Eliminator.

The charm and flair of the upcoming ‘Gladiators Australia’ will be amplified by its dynamic hosting duo: Liz Ellis and Beau Ryan.

Fresh off her crowning in the 2023 edition of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Liz remarked,

“I am super pumped to be hosting Gladiators Australia with Beau who is in the gym as we speak trying to match it with our Gladiators. It’s an iconic franchise and I’m excited about the reboot. It is set to showcase some of my favourite Gladiator challenges from the original series as well as throw up a few new ones for us to fall in love with!”

Beau, equally ecstatic about the project, added,

“I am beyond excited to be hosting Gladiators Australia alongside the great Liz Ellis. Liz is a national treasure, and we are going to have a lot of fun. I grew up watching and loving Gladiators Australia and can’t wait to get into it. It’s going to be spectacular.”

Behind the scenes, Warner Bros. International Television Production is crafting the series for Network 10, with Johnny C. Ferraro and Barry Poznick at the helm as executive producers. The original concept of ‘Gladiators’ sprouted from the minds of Johnny C. Ferraro and Dan Carr, in collaboration with Flor-Jon Films. Distribution rights for ‘Gladiators Australia’ now lie with Amazon MGM Studios Distribution.
