Set against the unsettling backdrop of Australia’s catastrophic bushfire season, Heat, a four-part drama series, is slated to make its debut on Channel 10 and 10 Play on Wednesday, 4th October at 9.00pm.

Developed by Fremantle Australia, the series intertwines the chaos of nature’s fury with unraveling human relationships.

Darren McMullen, Scottish-Australian actor known for his roles in Doctor Doctor and Christmas On The Farm, leads the star-studded ensemble. He’s joined by Pia Miranda, familiar to audiences for her performances in Wentworth and Mustangs FC.

Set in Victoria’s highlands, the drama focuses on two families who reconvene for their yearly summer vacation. Tensions, however, begin to boil beneath the surface, exacerbated by a bushfire that threatens to consume not just the landscape but also lifelong friendships marred by deceit.

Also featured are Jane Allsop, remembered for House Husbands and Mrs Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries, Danny Dyer, a household name in the UK for EastEnders, and Olympia Valance of Informer 3838 and Playing for Keeps fame. Newcomers Matia Marks, Matteo Annetta, and Hunter Hayden, along with Richie Morris of Neighbours, complete the cast.

Daniel Monaghan, SVP Content & Programming, Paramount Australia & New Zealand, lauded the series, saying,

“We are thrilled to team up with Channel 5 and Fremantle once again, for another superb drama series.

The accomplished cast is fantastic, and they will do a sensational job of bringing this gripping story to life on screen. We can’t wait to get started.”

Jason Herbison, the creative force behind Fremantle Australia and known for helming beloved soap Neighbours, is the Executive Producer of Heat.

“I’m excited to partner with 10 and 5 once again for this tense family thriller, and ecstatic to have such an accomplished cast on board to bring it to life, along with Kate Kendall directing and Natalie Mandel driving the production,”

Kate Kendall, winner of the Australia Directors’ Guild Award, directed the series with Natalie Mandel (Lie With Me, Wanted) stepping in as producer. The series’ writing team features Anthony Ellis and Margaret Wilson, with casting overseen by Thea McLeod.

Heat was filmed exclusively in Victoria and has received financial backing from VicScreen. Fremantle has been designated as the series’ international distributor. With its premiere looming, audiences can expect a complex narrative fraught with suspense and emotional turmoil.
