Wednesday night on The Block: Scott and Shelley get real about budgets, winners rake in cash, and some Blockheads are on the chopping block.

Scotty kicked off the episode with the mantra, “Life is what you make of it.” This was a direct nod to Brett from House No.3, who expressed his annoyance at being woken up by the production crew at the crack of dawn. Foreman Dan later reprimanded Brett, who eventually apologised for his outburst.

The contestants are engrossed in putting together their Kinsman kitchens. Set to be unveiled on Sunday, these kitchens are anticipated to leave viewers awe-struck.

Scotty and Shelley Craft did their routine walkthroughs, scrutinising not only the quality of the work but also the contestants’ budgeting skills. Kyle and Leslie of House No.1 received a serious warning: their budget was in jeopardy, and winning rooms or challenges soon was a must.

Shelley was particularly displeased with some of the Blockheads’ progress. She scolded Leah and Ash, stating their living room was in such a state that it risked enduring damage.

Budget issues were not limited to one house; Scotty informed Eliza and Liberty that their budget was also “cooked,” suggesting a change in their building team could be beneficial.

The episode culminated in the BayCISS challenge, judged by Darren Palmer. The triumphant teams were Eliza and Liberty, Leah and Ash, and Kristy and Brett, each awarded a $10,000 prize.

However, not all was well in the aftermath. Eliza opted for a three-hour nail appointment, leaving Liberty to soldier on with the painting tasks. Liberty did not mince words, accusing her sister of shirking responsibilities and not taking their time on The Block seriously.

As Kitchen Week progresses, the Blockheads are facing a gruelling couple of days and nights, with much work yet to be done.

The Block continues 7pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now
