Australian streaming service Stan is upping the ante with the much-anticipated second season of the original Series, Wolf Like Me.
The season, set to premiere on October 19, will see all episodes released simultaneously and exclusively on Stan.
Leading the cast are Josh Gad of Frozen fame and AACTA Award-winning Australian actress Isla Fisher. The ensemble welcomes a new addition this season: Édgar Ramírez, known for roles in The Bourne Ultimatum and the Stan Exclusive Series Dr. Death.
Produced by an impressive team, Wolf Like Me brings together talents like Jodi Matterson of Nine Perfect Strangers, Bruna Papandrea of Big Little Lies, and Steve Hutensky from The Dry under their banner Made Up Stories. The creative force behind the series is three-time AACTA Award nominee Abe Forsythe, who also serves as writer, director, and executive producer.
Joining Fisher, Gad, and Ramírez in Season 2 are Ariel Donoghue from Blueback, Emma Lung of Wonderland, Anthony Taufa seen in Young Rock, and Honour Latukefu. The second season is filmed on Australian soil, maintaining its original, local flavour.
The upcoming season promises new turns in Mary and Gary’s relationship, this time adding the challenge of a pregnancy into the mix. The couple grapples with existential questions: Will their baby be human or a wolf pup? And what secrets are lurking in their pasts?
A twist arrives with the sudden reappearance of Mary’s former professor, Anton, played by Édgar Ramírez. New revelations about Mary’s past make the couple question their future together.
In a recent note, series creator Abe Forsythe expressed his excitement about the new season. He mentioned that humour will play a greater role as Mary and Gary’s secrets unfold. According to Forsythe, the actors have outdone themselves, with Isla Fisher’s portrayal of Mary being especially “heartbreakingly vulnerable.”
The brand new season of the Stan Original Series Wolf Like Me will premiere October 19, all episodes at once and only on Stan.
