In a much-anticipated return, Australia’s beloved outback drama, “RFDS”, is finally back for its second season on Channel 7 and the streaming platform, 7plus.

The narrative picks up a year after Eliza, portrayed by the adept Emma Hamilton, departs the rugged terrains of Broken Hill. With the RFDS South East team’s lives evolving rapidly, they’re bracing for a myriad of challenges, set against the stunning yet often unforgiving backdrop of the outback.

Hamilton, recognised for her roles in “Ten Pound Poms” and “Last Cab to Darwin”, reunites with fellow cast members for the upcoming season.

The ensemble includes Stephen Peacocke (“Home and Away”, “Five Bedrooms”), Rob Collins (“Total Control”, “The Drover’s Wife”), and Justine Clarke (“Going Country”), among others.

Adding a fresh face to the team is Emma Harvie, known for “Colin from Accounts”, who will be stepping into the shoes of Chaya, a dynamic mental health nurse.

For the uninitiated, “RFDS” offers a heart-wrenching portrayal of the lives and tribulations of the Royal Flying Doctor Service team. These doctors, nurses, pilots, and support staff, showcased through the lens of genuine real-life stories, crisscross Australia’s most challenging terrains to provide emergency medical retrievals.

The drama is shot in the breathtaking locales of Broken Hill and its vicinity, amplifying the authenticity of the narrative. The series boasts a top-tier production crew, with Endemol Shine Australia’s Sara Richardson spearheading as the executive producer alongside industry stalwarts Imogen Banks and Julie McGauran.

The production reins are held by Ian Meadows and Ross Allsop, while Jeremy Sims, Rachel Ward, and Adrian Russell Wills step in as directors. The gripping storylines of the second season are penned down by Ian Meadows and further enriched by writers like Claire Phillips, Magda Wozniak, Kodie Bedford, and Wills.

As fans eagerly await the show’s release, it’s evident that “RFDS” season two is set to further engrave its mark as a seminal piece in Australian television.

RFDS season two premieres Tuesday 15 August at 9:15pm at Channel 7 and 7plus
