In great news for comedy fans, BINGE has today confirmed a second season of the multi-award-winning romantic comedy, Colin from Accounts.
The series, a joint creation of Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer who also star in the lead roles, has been a sensation, becoming Foxtel Group’s most viewed original scripted series ever.
The announcement comes on the heels of a stunning victory at the 63rd Annual TV Week Logie Awards where the show claimed three major accolades. The series was awarded Most Outstanding Comedy Program, while Brammall and Dyer also earned the Most Outstanding Actor and Actress awards respectively, making it the equal most awarded show of the evening.
Brammall and Dyer, who play Gordon and Ashley, are introduced in the series when their characters meet in the aftermath of a car accident caused by a distracting incident involving a stray dog named Colin. The romantic comedy is built around these two engaging, complex characters and their compelling chemistry.
Expressing their joy at the greenlight for a second season, Patrick Brammall and Harrriet Dyer thanked fans worldwide for their support,
“We’re thrilled that BINGE is finally letting us do another one. Turns out the Border Terrier community is extremely powerful.
Thank you to everybody around the world who has enjoyed the show, we can’t wait to bring you all a second season. Stay tuned for more shenanigans.”
Alison Hurbert-Burns, Commissioner and BINGE Executive Director, shared her excitement about the return of what she described as “the funniest couple on TV (and their dog)” adding,
“We left season one unsure if Ashley and Gordon could get Colin back so of course we need to see what’s next for these lovable characters that audiences in Australia, and the world have fallen in love with.”
Rob Gibson and Ian Collie of Easy Tiger Productions, who are producing the series, were equally delighted, saying,
“It’ll surprise no-one to learn that making Colin from Accounts was pure joy from beginning to end, so we can’t wait to dive into season two with Harri and Patty and the team.”
Despite the ongoing US writer’s strike causing some delays, the team is hopeful to begin development on the second season soon. The show, which has been warmly received internationally, has been a significant connection for the team to Australia, particularly Sydney’s inner west, where the show is set and shot.
Season two of Colin from Accounts, distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of Australia and New Zealand, is eagerly anticipated by a growing international audience. The series also has a home on the BBC in the United Kingdom, where it continues to receive widespread acclaim.
