MATILDAS Set to Shine in FIFA WOMEN’s WORLD CUP Round of 16 on Seven

The Seven Network has announced the broadcasting schedule for the eagerly anticipated Round of 16 matches in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, with the spotlight firmly on The Matildas.

This announcement comes after the successful group stage that witnessed The Matildas topping Group B.

The Australian national team is set for a crucial encounter with Denmark, taking place at Stadium Australia.

The live coverage, available in HD, will commence at 8.00pm AEST on Channel 7 and 7plus, and will be preceded by pre-game content on 7mate and 7plus from 7.30pm AEST.

7SPORT’s Mel McLaughlin and Bruce McAvaney will spearhead Seven’s coverage directly from the stadium, with the Matildas vying to make it to the Quarter-Finals.

The broadcast team will also include expert commentators Elise Kellond-Knight, Heather Garriock, Izzy Christiansen, and Adam Peacock, along with Grace Gill and David Basheer handling football commentary. 7SPORT’s Emma Freedman will capture the lively atmosphere live from Sydney.

Seven’s Head of Network Sport and Managing Director of Seven Melbourne, Lewis Martin, shared his enthusiasm for the event, urging viewers to tune into Channel 7 and 7plus to witness the Matildas’ quest for glory on home soil.

In addition to the Australia-Denmark match, the Round of 16 coverage will feature Japan vs Norway on 5th August, Sweden vs United States on 6th August, and France vs Morocco on 8th August.

Post the Round of 16, Seven will air the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, the Final, and every Matildas match live and free on Seven and 7plus. Viewers can also catch the daily FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Highlights Show, hosted by Mel McLaughlin at 2.00pm, and enjoy on-demand replays of all Seven’s licensed matches and bonus content on 7plus.
