Veteran host Annabel Crabb, known for her unique blend of politics and culinary exploits, is back with a fresh season of Kitchen Cabinet.
The new season kicks off on Tuesday 15 August, at 8pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.
Following a 2022 election that brought about a shift in government, a fresh Prime Minister, a wave of independent MPs, and a more diverse parliament, Crabb will have a smorgasbord of interesting political figures to engage with.
The upcoming season will see Crabb enter the homes of eight major politicians including the former Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews, Minister for Indigenous Australians Linda Burney, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, Western Sydney Independent Dai Le, Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie, Greens Senator Jordon Steele-John, Independent Senator Lidia Thorpe, and Labor Minister Anika Wells.
Crabb, a member of the Parliamentary Press Gallery since 1999, recognises the changing face of the Parliament. She sees it as more reflective of the diverse Australia, leading to a plethora of fascinating stories.
Kitchen Cabinet, conceived by Crabb for ABC in 2011, breaks away from the traditional studio interview format. Visiting the homes of prominent politicians, Crabb cooks a meal with her guest while also bringing along dessert. This informal setting encourages more personal discussions, allowing Crabb to delve into topics like Peter Dutton’s perception of his own caricatures, Anika Wells‘ balancing act of motherhood, career, and health, or Dai Le’s darkest life experiences.
Kitchen Cabinet initially ran for six seasons between 2012-2016, featuring more than 40 politicians ranging from Prime Ministers to backbenchers. All previous episodes are freely accessible on ABC iview.
The production team includes Director Stamatia Maroupas, Executive Producer Madeleine Hawcroft, Producer Pauline Ernesto, Associate Producer Brett Worthington, and Editors Elizabeth Graetz & Sally Moran.
