In a stunning first week, the Australian psychological horror film ‘Run Rabbit Run’ has bounded onto Netflix’s top charts, clinching the #2 position in Australia and #3 globally.

Its premiere on 28th June was hotly anticipated following a debut at the Sydney Film Festival, and it did not disappoint, netting a staggering 14.2 million hours viewed and 6 million views in just one week.

The film showcases the exceptional talent of Australian Emmy nominee Sarah Snook, who has previously captivated audiences in HBO’s Succession. In ‘Run Rabbit Run’, Snook delivers another gripping performance as a fertility doctor and single mother grappling with her daughter’s unsettling claims of recollections from a past life.

Filmed in Melbourne, regional Victoria, and the breathtaking Riverland region of South Australia, ‘Run Rabbit Run’ serves as a showcase of Australia’s stunning landscapes, while exploring the chilling boundaries between life and death.

The film’s success only strengthens Netflix’s growing collection of popular Australian content, joining the Emmy-winning documentary ‘Puff: Wonders of the Reef’, alongside notable series ‘Heartbreak High’ and ‘Wellmania’, and the critically-acclaimed crime-drama film ‘The Stranger’.

Nevertheless, ‘Run Rabbit Run’ has some stiff competition. ‘Extraction 2’, headlined by Australian Chris Hemsworth, retains its #1 spot on both the Australian and global charts three weeks post-release, boasting an impressive 36.2 million hours viewed.

The thrilling reception of ‘Run Rabbit Run’ underscores a golden period for Australian Netflix content, with films and series like ‘True Spirit’, ‘The Stranger’, ‘Wellmania’, ‘Heartbreak High’, ‘Surviving Summer’, and ‘A Perfect Pairing’ making waves in the global top 10 charts.
