Football aficionados, brace yourselves for a spectacular month of non-stop action, as the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023â„¢ finally arrives on our screens, with Optus Sport the only place where you can watch every game live.

Australia and New Zealand are set to host the largest-ever edition of the tournament, which will unfold over the month of July, starting on the 20th.

The World Cup festivities will kick off with a gripping encounter between the co-hosts New Zealand and Norway. However, it’s the match later that day which has the nation holding its breath. The Australian women’s national team, the Matildas, are set to clash with Ireland at a sold-out Stadium Australia.

This much-anticipated match marks the beginning of a journey that will see the Matildas play against Nigeria on July 27, and conclude the group stage with a potentially monumental battle against Canada on July 31. These three matches are part of an extensive suite of live football games that Optus Sport subscribers can look forward to this month.

The spotlight, however, isn’t solely on the Matildas. A plethora of footballing powerhouses are set to thrill viewers with their dazzling performances. European champions England, back-to-back world champions USA, Spain, Brazil, Germany, and France are among the elite teams competing in this year’s tournament. Notably, the USA will have a chance to relive their 2019 World Cup final glory in their second game against the Netherlands on July 27. With the tournament expanding to include 32 teams for the first time in its history, this year’s World Cup is poised to be an unforgettable spectacle.

Away from the global tournament, Optus Sport continues to provide comprehensive football coverage throughout July. In the J.League, Yokohama F.Marinos, led by Australian coach Kevin Muscat, aim to secure back-to-back titles. However, they face fierce competition from Nagoya Grampus, helmed by former Socceroos goalkeeper Mitch Langerak, in what is shaping up to be a fascinating contest at the summit of the league.

In addition, Optus Sport will bring live action from South Korea’s K League, and offer a tantalising glimpse into the 2023/24 Premier League season with the Premier League Summer Series. This pre-season tournament, commencing on July 23, features a round-robin format with six teams including Chelsea, Brighton, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Brentford and Fulham, ensuring nine action-packed matches over eight days.

American soccer fans also have something to look forward to. Optus Sport subscribers will gain free access to the MLS Season Pass, courtesy of a partnership with Apple and Major League Soccer. This pass grants access to all MLS matches, including the MLS All-Star Game where the best of MLS will compete against English Premier League side Arsenal FC on July 19. This marquee event will be followed by the Leagues Cup, a World Cup-style tournament featuring all MLS and Liga MX Clubs, and the remainder of the MLS Season and its extended Playoffs.

With a colossal line-up of football events, July on Optus Sport promises to be a rollercoaster of excitement and drama for fans. Whether it’s cheering for the Matildas, witnessing international powerhouses in action, or following club football, subscribers are set for an unforgettable month of football viewing.
