This July, BritBox is set to captivate its audience with a thrilling line-up of shows, offering a range of genres from murder mysteries to comedies, and historical documentaries.

Among the highly anticipated shows making their debut this month are “Six Four”, “The Curse”, and “Digging for Britain”. Each offering a unique blend of genres and themes, these shows are expected to be a major highlight for BritBox viewers this July.

“SIX FOUR,” a gripping crime drama based on Hideo Yokoyama’s best-selling novel, is one of the highlights set to debut in July. The first season of this intriguing detective series, exclusive to BritBox, is set against the backdrop of the historic city of Edinburgh. The series features a star-studded cast including Kevin McKidd, known for his roles in “Trainspotting” and “Brave,” Vinette Robinson from “Sherlock” and “The A Word,” and Nalini Chetty of “Karen Pirie.” The plot unravels around the mysterious kidnapping of Police Detective Chris O’Neill’s daughter, revealing a vast conspiracy when Chris’ brother is linked to the father of another missing child, thus exposing a tangle of deceit, treachery, and corruption. The series already boasts of a record-breaking premiere day for an ITVX exclusive title, with all four episodes landing in the top 10 most viewed episodes on BritBox.

Six Four will be available for streaming on BritBox from 1 July 2023.

Also gracing the platform this July is the second season of the widely acclaimed crime comedy, “The Curse.” The narrative picks up 18 months after a daring gold heist, with the bumbling criminals now under the scorching Spanish sun, adding another dimension of humour to their escapades. The series features an ensemble cast including Tom Davis, known for his roles in “King Gary” and “Murder in Successville,” Emer Kenny from “Karen Pirie” and “Father Brown,” and BAFTA award-winning writers and actors, Steve Stamp from “People Just Do Nothing” and Allan Mustafa of “Peacock” and “BBC Comedy Feeds.” The series, with its 4 out of 5-star rating from The Guardian UK, has been lauded as “genuinely funny” and “comedy gold.”

The Curse will be available to stream on BritBox from 27 July 2023.

For history enthusiasts, the ninth season of “Digging for Britain” is poised to be an exciting adventure. Hosted by the charismatic anatomist and biological anthropologist Alice Roberts, known for her role in “Britain’s Most Historic Towns,” the documentary series delves into the untold stories buried in the lands of Britain. The series offers an in-depth exploration of the UK’s rich history, uncovering artifacts ranging from Neolithic hand axes and World War II fighter planes to intricate Roman keys and Saxon swords. Each episode dives into the diverse geographical locales of the UK, covering East, South, North, Midlands, and West.

Digging For Britain will be available on BritBox from 11 July 2023.

Apart from these highlights, BritBox has also released a comprehensive list of shows premiering in July 2023, including “Vigil” (Season 1) on 6 July, “Prey” (Seasons 1-2) on 13 July, “P.D. James’ Death in Holy Orders” series on 14 July, “Blue Murder” (Seasons 1-5) on 20 July, and “P.D James’ The Murder Room” series on 28 July.
