New Architectural Wonders to Unfold on SHELTER this JULY 2023: From Thai Grand Spaces to Smart Cities 2.0

Shelter, the architecture channel, is set to provide its viewers with an enriching lineup this July, featuring a variety of architectural explorations and exclusive content.

A highlight of the month is the world premiere of “Richard Henriquez: Building Stories”. This film by directors Gavin Froome and Mike Bernard narrates the life and works of the influential Canadian architect Richard Henriquez. Known for his narrative architecture, Henriques has left an indelible mark on cities through his designs like Vancouver’s Gaslight Square and Ottawa’s Peacekeeping Monument. The documentary will be available exclusively on Shelter from July 24.

In addition to the premiere, Froome and Bernard will engage in a live-streamed conversation with Rory Fraser of Shelter Originals: Follies. This exclusive event for Shelter subscribers is scheduled for July 31st at 7pm AEST.

Shelter continues to explore the realm of sustainable architecture with the continuation of “Design: e²”. Narrated by Brad Pitt, this series delves into the innovative work of civil engineer Paul Pedini and designers Ken Yeang, Werner Sobek and William McDonough. The series will resume weekly from July 3.

“Smart Cities 2.0” also continues, featuring architect and urban planner Jason Pomeroy as he explores urban hubs like Bandung, Singapore, Ahmedabad, Barcelona, and Shenzhen. The series resumes from July 3.

The architectural beauty of Thailand is explored in “Grand Spaces Thailand”. Premiering on July 3, this six-part series showcases how local architects create luxurious yet harmonious designs that respect local traditions and natural landscapes.

Lastly, viewers can learn about the influential Australian architectural firm Denton Corker Marshall in “Land Artists”. This documentary delves into the firm’s history, revealing the secrets behind their innovative urban and landscape designs, including the Australian pavilion at the Venice Biennale. It will be available on July 10, excluding Australia.

This July, Shelter offers a diverse range of programs, each taking a unique look at architectural design, sustainable solutions, and urban development.
