In a refreshing turn of events for Australian Television, Channel Seven has revealed that comedian Sam Pang is set to host the 63rd TV WEEK Logie Awards, which is due to take place on Sunday, 30 July at The Star Sydney.

Pang will be the first to take up this mantle in more than a decade, joining an esteemed line-up of past hosts that includes the likes of Graham Kennedy, Bert Newton, Don Lane, Andrew Denton, and Shaun Micallef.

Seven’s decision to invite Pang to host the Logies forms part of a broader series of changes being implemented this year, in what’s been described as the network’s ‘reimagining’ of the event.

Sam Pang, currently seen on The Front Bar alongside Mick Molloy and Andy Maher and a notable participant of Have You Been Paying Attention? since 2013, expressed his excitement about the upcoming gig.

“It’s a significant honour to be asked to host the Logies,”

he said.

“Although it will be unusual not having a buzzer or beer in front of me, I’m optimistic about taking on this challenge.

I’m truly fortunate to be part of this industry and I’m eagerly anticipating 30 July in Sydney, where I’ll guide viewers through the entire four-hour broadcast.”

Angus Ross, Seven Network’s Chief Content Officer: Entertainment Programming, also shared his thoughts on the appointment.

“Sam was on standby to accept an award for Kitty Flanagan at last year’s Logies and found himself up on stage, where he completely stole the show with his witty and sarcastic commentary.

We are delighted that audiences will now get to enjoy more of Sam Pang on Seven as he navigates the entire evening with his trademark humour and a genuine fondness for the industry, both past and present.”

Pang, who has made a name for himself as a television presenter, writer and producer, has co-hosted Nova 100’s much-loved Chrissie, Sam & Browny for the past seven years. His coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest alongside Julia Zemiro from 2009 to 2016 also garnered him a significant fan following.

The nominees for the 63rd TV WEEK Logie Awards will be unveiled Monday morning at 7:00am at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.

Channel 7 and 7plus will exclusively broadcast the 63rd TV WEEK Logie Awards from 7:00pm on Sunday, 30 July.

  1. I wonder who is going to get the gold Logie for most “adverse events” at a network this year ? ? ?

Is it going to be the Seven Network? That gets my vote…

    I can’t wait for James Warburton’s speech 😜
